  1. I look forward to President Clinton (though, I'd prefer Sanders) and being a progressive state once again when Governor Cooper and the Democratic-led NCGA undo the damage done by McCrory and his GOP mates. We are going to disagree on HB2 but we don't need all the negativity and bad press.
  2. Plus it's not just Charlotte paying the price for HB2 anymore.
  3. Surprised nobody picked this up.
  4. But the Blue Line is more reliable than the Gold Line because of the dedicated right of way.
  5. https://www.charlotteagenda.com/46045/silver-line-plans-east-charlotte/ Good Agenda showing the different options that have be narrowed down for the Silver Line and how it would be routed into Uptown.
  6. ABQ was such an odd add, it was mainly added because AA is tight and did not like the fact that they had aircraft sitting in CLT overnight when they could be flying: but most destinations that could be served in the early hours (like the West Coast) already has adequate service and AA choose the next largest market where they would make a tiny bit of money flying overnight. GIG/GRU still hurt today for me, I loved Rio de Janeiro & Sao Paulo and when we upgauged them to A330-200s I was flying to Brazil nearly 3 times a week. Though I don't actually know if we turned a profit, we probably made a small one which with DFW, MIA, JFK and LAX plus the Brazillian economy wasn't enough to keep the flights. BCN/BRU/LIS/BCN were all carrots to let the merger go through without opposition from the state (do you remember when many state Attorney Generals sued AA over the merger?) and I fell for it, I thought it was going to be the start of a whole new wave of international flights. The only two I really cared about were Barcelona and Manchester, and we still have service to Barcelona so you win some, you loose some.
  7. Please can this happen. Has there every been a county that has succeeded from a state to a different state?
  8. Yeah, your South Park version is cute and everything but come on, we need the more dramatic Team America version:
  9. /\ I thought Red Ventures was considering their job expansions. I don't think they are actually saying they won't hire those 500 workers.
  10. Yeah, I hear ya! My spelling and grammar isn't the best anyway, plus that was a hastily written email that I wrote between flights. Anyway, whilst this is just galley gossip, I've heard that AA is considering reducing service from NC in protest against HB2. Personally I think it seems unlikely but I thought I'd share with y'all.
  11. I would like to encourage you all to email McCrory, this is the email I wrote, if you would like to use it as a template please do! To Governor McCrory, I am a resident of Charlotte. I voted for you in the 2012 Gubernatorial election, based on your tenure as Mayor of Charlotte, I had up and till that point voted Democrat, I expected you to help our state and my city. You were a moderate that appealed to many here in Charlotte, both Republicans and Democrats, yet you have become increasingly conservative. You have been focusing on the Republican-majority small counties to help prop up you Governorship running up to this election. North Carolina, till 2013, was considered a progressive state and model to the rest of this great nation. Please know that I will be voting for Roy Cooper this November, based on your acts as Governor such as threatening to cut light rail funding, signing into law a bill that limited economic incentives, trying to take Charlotte/Douglas Airport from the City of Charlotte, and finally House Bill 2. House Bill 2 isn't just about transgender rights, but also about clinching more control for Democratic-majority cities like Charlotte and Chapel Hill. You and the North Carolina General Assembly claim that House Bill 2 does not discriminate against anyone but rather protects women and children from sexual predators. A sexual predator would dress up as a woman/man anyway to get into the opposite gender's bathroom, the Charlotte ordinance did not allow this. You also claim that House Bill 2 will not hurt North Carolina's attempt to attract business, but have you listened to the news? PayPal will not go forward with their Charlotte expansion, that is 400 jobs paying an average of $51,000 gone, Red Ventures is considering cancelling plans to hire a further 500 jobs in the Charlotte area, Novo Nordisk is reconsidering a Greensboro pharmaceuticals plant, and executives at a majority of America's leading businesses and corporations have spoken out against House Bill 2. House Bill 2 has embarrassed and harmed North Carolina's image, many other Governors have vetoed similar bills to avoid the backlash that North Carolina has faced, If you wish to limit the affect of House Bill 2 and begin to regain the trust of the Charlotte area, I urge you to repeal House Bill 2 in the upcoming session. Thank you, My name EDIT- Great! There is a typo! (in bold) That "for" should be "from".
  12. Thats because those countries that limit LGBT rights are huge markets and at the end of the day, PayPal are out to make money. One state isn't as important as large countries. Anyway you've got to start somewhere in getting equal rights for all.
  13. Okay, I get all the backlash. But why has it all been directed at Charlotte (with the exception of the Greensboro pharmaceuticals plant)? We tried to be inclusive and stop discrimination, but we are being punished for McCrory's and the NCGA's mistakes.
  14. While PayPal not expanding here in CLT stings right now, its what we need to get momentum going to get this bill repealed: after all, human rights are better/more important than new jobs.
  15. So you have heard that there will be almost 1.6million square feet of commercial space (if wikipedia is correct about Hearst' floor area)? That seems quite ill-planned, considering we having something-like 1.? million square feet coming online in 3+ projects. I'm guessing that this will be a 10 year master plan or something along those lines?
  16. Even if this project isn't as big as Brickell City Center, this project is still huge for Charlotte. It really shows that we are a city that is on-par with many major cities around the country. I can't wait for this! Such an exciting time to be living in Charlotte!
  17. Right we need Hillary Clinton to join in with Goldman Sachs and then I'll be convinced about this project!
  18. Wow! Who would have guessed that the two of the most important transport jobs in the county were from Charlotte! If Charlotte and CATS can get their s**t together, we may have a chance of getting more funding.
  19. Any further parallel runway would be built towards Uptown, east of Runway 18L/36R. The airport considers I-485 the boundary of expansion so to speak.
  20. Groovy? That's a word i haven't heard in a long time!
  21. How close was you vision, to Lincoln Harris's master plan?
  22. That's not fair! You can't go around telling us that you know about a project and then not give us any hints!
