  1. Totally agree! $3 cheap liquor drinks, and 2 for 1s does not help.
  2. New Orleans has an aquarium across the street from a casino across the street from a high end mall, all around the corner from bourbon st. Then add in the shopping and restaurants on canal. There are restaurants on bourbon and in the French quarter. It's definitely a place where if you take kids during the day you're kinda OK from the drunks and craziness. At night, a different story. People know what happens in New Orleans. I think new tourist to Nashville don't know what the "new Nashville" is about and get shocked when they see lower broad on the weekends. I think Nashville does have an advantage over other cities because you can visit the museums during the day when they are open then visit other areas like the gulch midtown/west end, East Nash, 12 south, WeHo, and others for a more chill relaxed night for dinner and drinks. Nashville has lived up to its Vegas of the south name and people come from all over the world to party like they are in Vegas. The 3-5 story bars doesn't help, as well as the wagons boats, buses, taverns, planes. I think the demographics for visitors to Nashville has changed from what it used to be, to singles 21-30, bachelor and Bachelorette groups, and college students. What we have is unique, fun, profitable, and any other city would love to have a tourist district as Broadway. However there does need to be changes. Closing down Broadway on weekends and citing for public intoxication. They do this in Ybor city in Tampa which is a similar district as Broadway. Police will cite/arrest you in a minute and that makes folks think twice about getting wasted at a bar. Safety is an issue as well that needs to be addressed. We need the mayor and council to step up and do something.
  3. I just moved to Tampa last week from Charleston. Originally from Nashville. Talk about being a skyscraper enthusiast in Charleston....lol. I loved the city, food, people, weather. But hey Charleston is Charleston. Great city! I have noticed Tampa reminds me a lot like Nashville 10 years ago. Ybor city is like Broadway, channelside/water street is like the gulch. Lots of apartments going up. Lots of potential. Tampa's skyline does look pretty good at night. Several buildings have cool light schemes. Plus they do have a building with an actual crown... The truist building. One thing I do like is their version of cool springs is called westshore and it's only 15 mins from downtown. So you pretty much have the suburban offices and downtown all in the same vicinity. Makes the city look a lot bigger. Once I get settled I'll try to get some pictures.

We will never get any real mass transit in TN with this kind of thinking. And there are a lot of other folks that think just like him in the state legislature.
  5. More studies. Then there will be a study to study the study. Isn't the federal government already doing a study? When are we ever going to build anything??
  6. The issue is all of the housing coming on the market is unattainable to the average American. Median prices at $350k+ are not helping the middle income and first time home buyers. Housing in this country and around the world is really getting out of hand. I live in Charleston and was fortunate enough to buy a nice townhome in Jan of 2021 for $192K. Same townhome now goes for $270k. I am in the process of moving to another hot-spot, Tampa, and the same type of townhome, similar neighborhood starts at $325k. I will be keeping my place in Charleston and renting it out. And lets not talk about the REIT, bidding wars, all cash buys, and investors. Doesn't REITs own like 40% of the rentals in Murfressboro? I think I read an article about that. They buy up whole neighborhoods then place the homes for rent, limiting the homes available for sale and driving up prices. I will be renting for a couple of years, but even rents are outrageous. 2Bd room apt going for $1800+. With the inflation issues, consumer debt and student loans, and wages not keeping up, we are in for a lot of trouble. Especially for the low and middle income Americans.

  8. I always wonder about stadium capacities and record attendance. The stadium has x amount of seats that people can sit in and allows x amount of people in boxes and suites. Where are all the additional people going? Are they selling standing room only tickets? Just curious. Thanks.
  9. This thing spans the whole length of the downtown core... From batman to Snodgrass lol. At least up close it does. Folks coming up 65S and who have never been to Nashville will be surprised that the skyline was hiding behind this building once they take the left or right merge

Live music, Rooftop bars, good food, affordable compared to other big cities, accessible in a short amount of time to majority of the east coast and Midwest either by car or flight, tons of air bnbs, good weather, and an overall welcoming and party atmosphere. Plus Nashville has done a great job marketing itself as an alternative to Vegas avd New Orleans.

  20. True. I'm paying about that amount for a studio at SkyHouse in midtown atl. I would definitely choose 505 over SkyHouse or any other of these cookie cutter stick built apartments they are putting up. A building like 505 would be starting out at 3k here in Atlanta.
