Video of the NYE Music city note drop. This was nationally televised on CBS. Great exposure for the city. I still think downtown Broadway is a better place to have this event, since the city has to pay to resod the grass at bicentennial mall and there isn't much parking or food /drink options in the vicinity, but overall great turnout and great event.

Good! They have these all over the busy roads in Tampa. Definitely helps with pedestrian safety. Here's an example of a crossing in Tampa. 6 lane busy road. Once pedestrian presses button and gets OK to go, traffic stops on both sides of the road.

I know Karl Dean's AMP wasn't too popular, and car dealers and anti transit people ultimately killed it, but it would have covered all of those areas you mentioned and ended at St Thomas in belle meade. I definitely think it would have been very successful, especially given Nashville's popularity with tourist, events, and residents now living in that area.

Where would you like to move it?? Dickson, TN? The rescue mission, the housing projects, and the 1950s homes in this city have been there long before gentrification and investment moved in. Unfortunately there are homeless people and people that need assistance in this world that need access to goods services in the city, not somewhere in the country where there are no bus lines or access. We should do more to try to end homelessness than trying to get rid of them so they can't be seen. Also, everyone is building there. There are million dollar homes being sold in that area. Multi family and single family. The rescue mission has done a good job with their management of the facility and being a partner in that community. FYI... A family member had to use that facility when I was younger for a couple of months to get back on her feet. Those facilities do actually help people.

Every time I see a new post from this thread I'm like... Yaaaaayyy mass transit. Then I scroll down and it's things that should have been done 20 years ago like sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, bridge rebuilds, and safety bollards on Broadway. I guess mass transit will never come to Nashville... Oh Well. I'll keep wishing...

I always thought Nashville and the state would benefit greatly with developing elevated reverse express lanes on Ellington Parkway in the Grassy median. My proposal would be no local exits, just a straight shot from the downtown loop to briley Parkway and 65 N and reverse. This would help alleviate a lot of the traffic going through 65/40 split and the 24/65 split. From my experience, a lot of the traffic during rush hour on Ellington Parkway is from people commuting from Madison and the northern suburbs to downtown. It blows my mind that Ellington Parkway is not 3 lanes in both directions. Tampa has elevated reverse espress lanes above the Selmon expressway, which is a toll road, and a portion of it is elevated above street level as well. I have to respectfully disagree. I currently live in Tampa. I'm from Nashville, but have lived in Atlanta, Charleston and now Tampa within the past 5 years. The Tampa metro does not have a high unemployment rate. US national unemployment = 3.9%. Tampa metro = 2.6%. You have two major metropolitan, tourist, and convention cities within an hour and a half of each other with only 3 lanes each way, with no mass transit. Tampa does have toll roads which gives options to folks traveling north or south. One thing I will say is that FL and it's cities take really good care of both the interstates and city roads. They are paved, lighted street signs, signs that tell you which intersection is ahead, and pedestrian cross walks on major roads that require motororist to stop. Plus interstates aren't trashy (SC was the worst with litter) and a lot of the exit and on ramps are landscaped and well maintained... Something I wish TN would do more of. There are more than a "few" bus routes, plus there is a free trolley system downtown. After driving all over the southeast for work, I will say Nashville traffic is not the worst. One thing that I like about the middle TN road network, is that there are state highways that all run parallel to the main interstate that lead you to the main cities and towns along the major interstate routes. Ex: 24W - Clarksville Hwy 24E - Murfreesboro Rd and Nolensville Rd 65N - Gallatin pk 65S - Franklin Rd and Nolensville Rd 40E - Lebanon pk 40W - Charlotte pk, 70S, and Hwy 100 I'm saying all of this to say Nashville is fortunate to have alternate routes in case there are wrecks that shutdown the interstate, or just heavy traffic. I hate sitting in traffic and not moving and stop and go traffic. I would rather be moving and it take me an extra 15 minutes than to be sitting for half an hour or more. I used to live in Clarksville and would often take Clarksville Hwy if there was a wreck on I-24W. I currently live in Tampa and had family from Nashville come down for the weekend. We went to animal kingdom on Saturday and left Tampa at 9am and it took us 2.5 hrs for a normal 1.5hr trip. No wrecks or anything, just heavy volume. I-4 between Orlando and Tampa is a complete cluster no matter when you travel it. And there are no roads that run parallel to I-4 that will get you to either city without going an extra 50 miles out of the way.

Same lol. I worked in the bridgestone building for 3 years and never saw a soul. It's like they worked on it for 30 mins a day at midnight and that was it. The owner must have deep pockets and very good patience. Property taxes, building materials, and labor have all gone up considerably since they first started on this 10 years ago.

I wonder if the politicians even know where the growth and declines are in the state. I was searching for population and demographic information and came across this site which seems to be fairly accurate using census data. It amazes me how there hasn't been any real infrastructure improvements and investments in alternate modes of transportation by the state in the last 40+ years. Yes we have had some widening and repavements here and there, but those things were already 10 years past due.
