  1. Pretty screwed. See the below article from last month. http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/blog/real-estate/2015/03/new-skyscrapers-make-encore-condo-owners-feel.html As the article states, there are tradeoffs for losing your view....and of course they had to make the Atlanta comparison lol.
  2. Got this in my email today. B-cycle will be free and shuttle from the courthouse parking garage. That should help. Still think they should invite the general public on a non-game day. Do a player meet greet, stadium tours, team/ticket info tours, and whatever musical act they want. But opening day on a Friday along with other events in the city going on is poor planning IMO. Also, Friday dilemma: Preds playoffs or Sounds opener? http://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/2015/04/13/ammenheuser-preds-sounds-dilemma/25712017/ Share this:
  3. Google all over the map in Nashville office search http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/blog/real-estate/2015/04/google-all-over-the-map-in-nashville-office-search.html From the article: "According to multiple real estate sources, among the options Google has checked out so far include two buildings in SoBro and also the historic Berger Building downtown, at 164 Rosa L. Parks Blvd. Sources said Google also has eyed options along Midtown's West End Avenue, as well as the affluent retail hub of Green Hills, five miles south of downtown. Google also evaluated space at 613 Ewing Ave. in SoBro, a building that's home to FLO{thinkery}, the latest venture by noted Nashville music-tech entrepreneur Mark Montgomery. He's in a partnership that bought the building last year." I can see them going into SOBRO or Midtown.
  4. Image released for North Nashville residential project Solid looking project. Hopefully this sparks interest for this part of town. Also, this will be an affordable apartment project, which Nashville desparately needs.
  5. Massive Ovation development lands first major lease http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/blog/real-estate/2015/04/massive-ovation-development-lands-first-major.html The Tennessean reports that Pinstripes will open in fall 2017. The company combines Italian dining with bowling and bocce. The chain currently has seven locations nationwide, a number it hopes to double over the next two years.
  6. The new building in One City reminds me of Gulch Crossing
  7. True Food Kitchen Appears to be Eyeing New Green Hills Development http://nashville.eater.com/2015/4/8/8371253/true-food-kitchen-green-hills-nashville Good to hear...Hopefully the Southern Land project will be back starting soon.
  8. Nashville mayor unveils new MTA bus shelters http://www.wsmv.com/story/28755907/nashville-mayor-unveils-new-mta-bus-shelters Great news. Still don't understand why NONE of the BRT bus shelters have a seat/bench for riders to sit. If I have been standing at work all day and my feet are killing me, last thing I want to do stand on hard concrete for 10-15 mins on the bus. There is just a pole there to lean against. This is especially hard on the elderly.
  9. Dean invites public to Nashville Sounds stadium opening http://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/2015/04/07/dean-invites-public-nashville-sounds-stadium-opening/25389459/ Ok Mr Dean...so you are going to invite the Public to a sold-out game at 4.30pm in the middle of rush hour on a Friday - with virtually little parking availalbe, and expect for the public to park, get to the stadium, those who don't have tickets leave the stadium, and those with tickets find parking and get to the stadium by 6.45pm? Good Luck! This is going to be a traffic nightmare.
  10. Agreed. Kroger definitley has the lowest prices compared to Publix and HT. They just about started the whole 10 for $10 deals that everyone is now doing. Even in the upscale areas of Nashville, Kroger's service does not match Publix's. Just the simple "Can I help you to the car with these groceries" which the ask at every Publix makes a difference. There is always a knowledgeable associate on the floor at Publix that I can ask a question and they answer. Good Luck finding anyone at Kroger for help on the floor...and Walmart is a totally different monster.
  11. 1201 Demonbreun project lands $9.33M permit With so much going on in the city, I forgot about Eakin's project. Should start to see it rise soon.
  12. Plan approved for Marriott, office tower proposed for SoBro Relatedly, the committee has asked for some minor modifications to the plan, according to Jamie Berry, MDHA spokeswoman. The project would involve the parcel that sits at the southwest corner of the intersection of Demonbreun Street and Eighth Avenue South. The property sits within the MDHA Art Center redevelopment district and, as such, requires committee approval related to exterior design. How many redevelopment districts are there? Seems like the whole city is in a "redevelopment district" that needs MDHA approval. Let the planning dept do their job.
  13. MDHA committee defers vote on Holiday Inn planned for SoBro Well that was quick. From Article: According to MDHA spokeswoman Jamie Berry, the committee expressed concerns about the proposed building’s 14-story height and accompanying sidewalk width. Current zoning for the .57-acre site allows for a structure of eight stories, plus two bonus floors if certain design and environmental elements are included. No future design review committee date for Pinnacle was scheduled. Do Developers not research zoning laws before they propose a project, or do they just think they might get away with it?
  14. I wouldn't count the Stadium Inn as hotel or a motel or an inn. It needs to be demolished like yesterday. Can't believe that building is still standing in a high visible prime spot. You would think PSC Metals own it.
  15. I agree. I don't see why they are closing. Everyone I have visited was always very busy. This looks like Kroger wants more stores in Nashville and saw the 3 stores of HT as an opportunity to add on to their market share, but you would think with Kroger owning HT it wouldn't matter.
  16. And in other Grocery news..... Harris Teeter to close Nashville stores, sell 3 to Kroger http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/2015/04/07/harris-teeter-nashville-stores-kroger/25403677/ The Nashville grocery market is already pretty crowded and competitive, so maybe they didn't have what it takes to survive in our markey. These 4 closures works out well for Kroger though.
  17. There are also two smokestacks at Rolling Mill Hill One at the apartments and one at the trolley barns.
  18. 'Hip Donelson' among Nashville's most desirable suburbs http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/real-estate/2015/04/04/hip-donelson-among-nashvilles-desirable-suburbs/25269925/
  19. Amen brother. Could not have said it better
  20. It "looks" super tall (taller than batman) from this pic...oh well. Looks like Batty will forever be Nashville's tallest. Maybe there is contract somewhere that the city signed that says the batman building has to be Nashville's tallest for 200 years. That's the only thing i can think of...
  21. Here is the update on the Westin from the Post Westin developer releases updated image
  22. I like the new design vs. the old. Definitely more street activation...and I didn't care too much for the tacky lime green on the old one. For some reason, the new render reminds me of a smaller version of the Southern Land building in GH, which we have not heard anything about lately. New Old
  23. Nashville Convention Center redevelopment deal moves ahead http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/real-estate/2015/03/31/approval-urged-convention-center-redevelopment-deal/70722892/ She's chugging along....next stop Metro Council 04/07 From Article: The project OliverMcMillan Spectrum Emery plans would double the amount of retail space downtown, including with new retail shops and restaurants and a boutique grocery store also being considered. Before the authority's vote Tuesday, developer Pat Emery of Spectrum {sodEmoji.|} Emery said clothing and other retail shops would occupy the first level of the two-floor retail structure, with restaurants and entertainment expected to be on the second level. "We're going to stay away from any retailer that's here and bring in new retailers that are not in this market," he said, citing hopes that would draw Nashville residents downtown to shop.
  24. Also of interest - Looks like the Cordell Hull may be saved http://www.tennessean.com/story/news/politics/2015/03/31/haslam-proposes-new-state-museum-nashville/70720170/ Among other proposed expenditures is an additional $40 million to renovate the Cordell Hull Building — a 1952-era state building near the Capitol that once appeared slated for demolition, outraging historic preservationists.. Additional dollars would give the state the $74 million it needs to cover all renovation costs.
