Does anyone know what happened to this, "Urbana Tower." Is it still being built? If its not being built does anyone know whats gonna happen to the land it was proposed for (which i'm clueless about). Hopefully its been re-designed or something if they're still going through with it .

^While I like the design of the Mint Tower, I don't like the site plan. It's part of the IVY development on the river, which doesn't seem urban or pedestrian friendly. It's like a gated community of skyscrapers, lol.

At least it will add a nice dimension to the skyline....

yea, same here. i like the design but i'm not a fan of the whole "gated scraper neigborhood" concept. I feel like, if it is over 10 stories, it should be open to everyone to walk through and enjoy. i dont wanna just admire the scraper from 30 feet

I suspect that 'gated' is a bit of a misnomer. It is my understanding that there will be public access to the riverfront.

^well since i dont believe that this Dubai version has started going up yet, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Dubai archetects copied Miami on this one. But since it is Dubai is Dubai, of course, it has to be taller

Interesting tower, and an even more interesting location. I don't think development is as hot on the west side of the Metrorail tracks as it is on the east side.

Hopefully the Logik Tower will soon be surrounded by more good urban development.

This has got to be one of the coolest things ever. "Edge Magazine" is a new periodical that just debuted in miami last week that focuses on new homes in the area. In the first issue, they did a spread on Met3. on this site, you can take a look at the mag and get a sample of the Met3 article(you can also click on "Free Issue" at the bottom to sign up for a freebee). Its got a real nice rendering in there too.

^Dang, that's bad news. And I was really fond of that tower's design. I guess with all the condos popping up around Miami, some flukes were bound to happen. I know there's alot of people watching the market in Miami for signs of a slow-down. This might be it....

Yes, Development in the area near the Miami Arena and near Overtown will be a welcome sight. It will be an even greater addition to the skyline instead of all the newer high-rises being built on or near Biscyne/Brickell. It would be nice to see developers build affordable first and second level apartment living for a working class market.

Wow, I really hope it gets torn down. I know it's a piece of Miami "history" and all, but it's not really doing anything beneficial to the urban environment in its current state. And minor league teams just don't seem to be that captivating. I would hope that the 1600 apartments that get built there would be affordable, tasteful urban infill housing!

Same here. the arena is down the street from AA and is'nt used for anything beneficiary. it is taking up valuable space that could be used to bring more residents downtown, and create some more density. Good thing they are not talking about building condos either. since they are apartments that would mean that the residents would most likely be permenant and not snowbirds, hopefully helping to create a more pedestrian friendly neighborhood around them.
