Correct. This particular building may be dead, but the idea of putting something there is not. Nothing planned that I know of, just the idea of something there is very much alive.

Well there has never been a better time to invest in GR. Hopefully something materializes.

On another note related to the theater - I saw a video that said they had dug 300+ footings for this site and that they were about to vertical on their work. I noticed over the weekend some concrete forms set up ABOVE grade so I think we are FINALLY going to start seeing some real tangible work here to get excited about.

I'll try and get some pictures today. The real challenge for this project is that the site is so wide it will be hard to tell what's going on when, unless there's a good spot for continuous updates from the air or from a nearby roof somewhere.

I did get confirmation that it's the Northwest residential/retail building, the parking ramp, and the hotel are what you are seeing going up first. I would also say that Franklin Partners office building is getting its foundation as well, way up in that upper right corner.

I could not find the post on the search function, but with this large project going up, has there been any rumblings/talk with the former Tallhouse site?

I wondered about that a few weeks ago too. I believe it's still owned by the DDA.

I thought the Tallhouse site (south of Hopcat on Ionia for those that don't remember the failed Tallhouse project) was optioned by Rockford (and still continues to be). It would be a great site for new development.

Oh, maybe they did. Options don't show up on the county GIS mapping site.

Actually the county shows that it's owned by RDV Corp since 2011. Didn't they do a partnership with Rockford on buying this?

Could be.  That would have been right around the same time they would have started talks to partner with Rockford on the Morton as well.

Noticed yesterday one of the tower cranes at Studio Park is already rising. There's a big Gelock crane on site now, as well. NB 131 up into the S-Curve yesterday at 5 was probably some of the best crane porn I've seen in the city yet. 2 tower cranes, a third being assembled, 3 mobile cranes and whatever that Gelock crane is supposed to be called. All of them pretty well lined up to be seen straight ahead.

2 tower cranes and a 3rd being assembled???
