I'm sorry, but the white elephant in the room is that in the same graphic, you have "Dick's" Sporting Goods and "Woodcock" Road.  Yes, a little immature, I know...

At least they don't have the big sign with Kohls and Staples listed direct above Dick's.

Or worse yet, right below a Five Guys sign.....

I'm beginning to think the Herndon Plaza /Colonial Landing Shopping Center is Cursed.  Just barely over a year since Crunch Fitness took over the old HHGregg Spot and maybe three years since Sports Authority became Lucky's became Aldi,  now Bed Bath and Beyond AND is subsidiary Buy Buy Baby will be closing its doors.  Its interesting because the turnover in stores there has been a byproduct of the corporate failings of the company.

  • Sports Authority
  • Lucky's Market
  • HHGregg
  • Bed Bath and Beyond
  • Buy Buy Baby

More like the curse of Amazon, maybe?

And the internet.

Add in factors like...

Traffic jams.

Rising gas prices.

Random gun violence.

Who needs to drag their butt out in public when they can buy stuff from the comfort of their favorite recliner and not even have to turn off the TV?

I have fond memories of several office lunches there when it was the Mongolian BBQ. A coworker always asked for a table by the buffet. That man loved a buffet like no one else I've ever known.

Was he my former boss?  He loved a good deal on a buffet.  In 2013 I took him to the Lai Lai buffet on OBT which has a $4 lunch special (which included the drink at the time).  I remember him getting the check and going "$4 ARE YOU KIDDING ME?"  At the time I didn't know if he was thinking that was high or low, but a few months later he admitted he didn't want to go back there because he wasn't sure what he could be eating there for $4.

Smart man.

Is Lai Lai the one near the Home Depot sort of across the street? I did the opening inspection for them 1990ish. $4 in 2013....yeah, I'd wonder.

Yes.  The one that actually has the Home Depot sign in front of it, even though Home Depot is across the street behind the building.

As fate would have it the old Boston Market on Colonial is now Fazolis.  Nearly across the street from the location that was abandoned nearly 20 years ago when they pulled out.

I wonder if their spaghetti is still all-u-can-eat.

Probably $5 bucks a plate now.

The only thing I always disliked about Fazoooooooooooooooli's, (my pronunciation) was their use of plastic plates, cups and utensils.

And you had to take a brand new one with each refill, resulting in ton after ton after ton of plastic headed straight to the landfill with no chance whatsoever of being recycled.

That is actually why I stopped eating there, even though I liked their food.

Couldn't handle the guilt.
