Holy Crap!

Quote

Mr. K’s Soft Ice Cream is on the market.

The longtime ice cream shop and restaurant is listed for sale for $260,000, says Patty Dowdy, with National Restaurant properties. The 1,400-square-foot space is being marketed as a well-loved turnkey operation. “Mr. K’s has an amazing lease in place with unbeatable rent for the area,” the brochure says.

I have nothing to base this off of but that seems crazy cheap?

its just the business, it does not include the building. The buyer will assume the existing lease, although I believe Mr. K himself is the landlord.

And today . . . dust bitten: Mr. K’s restaurant, ice cream shop in Charlotte closes | Charlotte Observer

I suspected the end was nigh when we went by two weeks ago for dinner around 7 and they informed us the grill closed at 7 and they were only serving ice cream.

There was some discussion in this house yesterday regarding Mr K and then to the Campbell's Greenhouse at 209 McDonald which is seen in this photo above. Jesse Campbell was the longtime owner of the greenhouse until his death in 2016. Polaris is not working with me currently so I cannot say when Jesse bought the property but is in a revocable trust currently.  Those two properties with l-o-o-o-o-n-g time owners. And long time employees.

To my surprise it appears Crispy Crepe on South blvd is gone. Not sure how long its been.

Noticed this a few weeks ago when I drove down South Blvd. According to Facebook they closed in November. Looks like they tried to also be a Hookah bar last fall and well that is a terrible transition choice in a airborne disease pandemic.

That's a shame.  I work with the owner/chef's wife but I hadn't heard it was closing (but not like I see anyone in the office anymore).

I had a feeling it wasn’t gonna make it, but I am bummed nonetheless. It was the best breakfast in Mecklenburg.

I was at 7th St. on Saturday morning around 10 and it was DEAD. A few people inside, almost all the shops are closed... definitely not the place it was before the pandemic. I hope it comes back quickly.

Tried to stop by on a recent Thursday evening around 5:30 to see what they had available for dinner and it was closed. I get that most of the office workers are WFH but the limited hours are not doing them any favors. I am surprised Orman's has not packed up for greener pastures.

Stopped by 7th Street on a Saturday afternoon a couple weeks ago and there were a decent number of folks there, especially considering the limited options they have now.  I really hope they make a strong comeback as that is always a stop when I'm uptown.

This is kind of interesting. Walking by Murphy’s tonight and someone was painting a huge mural on the 2nd floor. It’s all sports themed. Kobe, MJ, etc…. First signs of life in 15 months. Anybody know what’s up?
