Correct, but the 1958 is the one I was referring to. There are only 4 decommissioned firehouses that are still standing. Of those 4, 2 are former Firehouse No. 2's. Rarely anywhere in the states, much less Charlotte, do you get to see the progression of the American fire service like this. From horse drawn fire apparatus to modern 2000 gpm engine companies, these firehouses had to accommodate different needs. In Charlotte you can see that in a half a mile. Maybe this doesn't matter to most people. Or maybe I'm just partial.

a hotel is proposed for this site at Hawkins and W Tremont.  Next door is Krispy Kreme HQ which I talked to some of the contractors today and was told this.  Unsure of opening date but Insomnia Cookies will be open 24/7 supposedly at the Sycamore end of the building and separately Krispy Kreme will open on the Tremont end of the building both facing Hawkins.  They will not be one big space but 2 separate businesses even though they are owned by the same parent company.    Update wrong building this guy is not selling according to those posting below)

That's disappointing.  All the improvements happening...all the exposure the area is getting...and with all the contribution the area is making to Charlotte's national brand, these property owners have no incentive to improve their lots...to even add sidewalks or to tidy up the building.  Frustrating.

I would be willing to bet large sums of money that barring any structural issues not a single wood frame deal in south end will be demolished within the next 15 years

Bill Moore owns this property. He is a spiteful old man that doesn’t take care of his buildings and refuses to sell anything (reportedly because any rental income or proceeds from sale would have to be split between him and his ex-wife). Thus this one and the 20+ buildings he owns in NoDa will remain vacant and not be sold until he dies.

4 tallest buildings in Southend office wise now.  Coming soon office towers  Lowes Tech tower,  Shorenstein Stiles Tower at East/West Blvd station,  the Square,   and that is the just announced ones!
