Meharry Medical College has broken ground on the  5 story Living and Learning Center on Wed.  It will house 126 students and feature 2 classrooms.  The 156,000 sq. ft., $30 million project has a June, 2022 opening planned.

I hope the backstage spaces are well planned, spacious, and efficient. So many times the architects spend all their energy making a theatre pretty, neglecting to make it WORK. Fingers crossed that this one is a winner!

(FYI, TPAC got to about one month out from opening when it dawned on them they had no box office. They converted a janitorial closet to use as a box office and had to deal with that until the renovations of 2002! It is still used for some things, but Jackson Hall and Polk Theatre each have their own box office/will call in their lobbies.)

The third diagram indicates there should be a large backstage with an incredible fly space (for those who don't know what that means, it is the tall ceiling that will allow backdrops to rise and drop for scene changes) and that should accommodate some awesome opera performances.
