You’re right.  It was from a recent drone video, but there must have been old footage that he included.

You know what really grinds my gears?  When you spot a recently uploaded drone video and it includes ten year old footage.  In a slower growing city where a new (noticeable) tower might pop up every five years or so it's probably not that big of a deal, but with Chatlotte you can pinpoint the age of the footage down to the month.

Not quite that long ago. It's actually from October 2016. You can see the construction of 300 S. Tryon and AC Hotel/Residence Inn.

You’re right, it is an incredible view of the city coming down N Graham and pics do not do it justice.  Everything looks so far away in pics but it’s like, right there.

Miscellaneous Southend photos including one of the Railyard I call 21st century meets 19th century electrical power poles.

Telegraph>telephone>electricity>street lighting>traffic signals>communications (Cable, etc). Each one hung on the previous pole with some added as time and funds permit. Did I forget something? 19th century, indeed.

There is no other way to handle this says the only advanced Western country that does this.

Ha! When I worked for that Big Energy Agency in DC, that was one of the selling points to market the Modern Grid infrastructure upgrade.  Basically, if Thomas Edison could somehow time warp to today's world, the first thing he would say is when he saw the power T&D system is, " it looks exactly the way we left it".

This exact day in 2017 notice anything missing uptown???  Change is constant here in the Queen City.   I have been taking these same shots for years and years.

Those shorter poles carry power from underground to the aerial lines. I cannot identify this location but my guess is that there is a power station/substation/aboveground system facility very near this location.

Not all the Charlotte metro area is paved over.  This cotton field which looks great is just 16 miles as the crow flies from uptown Charlotte in Cabarrus County.  Was noticing today how all of the row crops (corn, cotton, soybeans etc) looking really good this year with ample rainfall.   Will go back in late October early November when the cotton will be fully developed.

Pond is at a Cabarrus County park.
