Wouldn’t it be so cool if someone put together a mini-city display of all the models like this that have been built over the years?  I wonder if they use the same scale.  I know there’s one of BofA CC I’ve seen before.

I actually did go to the Lego Towers of Tomorrow show a few years ago at Discovery Place.  No Charlotte buildings to be found there, but there’s this…

This can be done so much better now...maybe I need to buy some extra pieces to confirm this. My dream is to build a model of the BOACC crown better.

Omg I want IN!!  At the risk of a thread derail, I’m a Lego kid from the 80s and gifted all of my sets (still in the original boxes) to my friends’ son a few years ago.  Was just at their house yesterday working on new Christmas sets!

That view is becoming one of my favorites in the city, and it's not even the main skyline. Recently moved out to the suburbs and I joke that the benefit of no longer living uptown is that I get to look at the skyline as I come in on Independence or Monroe.

There are several of us here who recall Hotel Charlotte. It was a modern hotel, steel framed, and located midway from the rail station on West Trade and the Square. Highways, interstates, increased auto travel and the decline of downtowns as a destination contributed to the demise of this hotel as well as others in Charlotte and elsewhere. The restaurant Hotel Charlotte was in the current Leroy Fox location on Sharon Road near the intersection of Providence. To enter the restaurant one went through a short lobby from the former hotel with hotel elements to entertain the eyes and the memory.

It is interesting that the advertisement mentions the altitude of Charlotte. Why would that be relevant?

My dad was having a sales meeting in one of the meeting rooms at the base there in the 40s when, all of the sudden they heard a loud 'thump' on the ceiling. They all went up on the roof to see what it was. A preacher had jumped out of an upper floor in order to commit suicide.  Anyone else here remember the implosion with David Copperfield?

This photo is a visual example of how High-Rise’s proliferating radially throughout the City Core (not just Uptown) will give Charlotte a much larger feel to it than just existing and/or new buildings being clustered in Uptown.  

Just a visual representation of the growth Charlotte has been enduring for decades.  There will be no ‘Where’s the City at’ from future visitors to town as other places in North & South Carolina have to endure.  Hopefully ground level activation will increase as well.
