Perception of Charlotte Nationwide

Don't feel too badly - Orlando long ago ceased to be Southern but we have our own bits of madness to contend with:

An estranged couple is reunited and that's "madness"???

That's subjective and it has nothing to do with him remarrying his wife, which is what spenser1058 referred to as "madness." That's the hugest stretch if there ever was one.

Hardly. Someone remarrying would not have rated an article in the Sentinel. A megachurch pastor who has encountered all sorts of scandals choosing to remarry in an ersatz theme park where said theme park is controlled by Trinity Broadcasting which is also infamous for all sorts of scandals financial and otherwise (and also famous for avoiding taxes on its tacky them park because it's, ahem, religious, and further going to great lengths to avoid the requirements of Florida law that non-profits grant free admission at least one day a year by picking the least convenient day possible for their guests, but I digress), is madness. And, lest you think otherwise, I am a proud Methodist who is happy to support congregations like my own and organizations like our local Christian Service Center that funnel the majority of their tithes and contributions to the needs of the flock, not to the wealth of folks like Benny and the leaders of Trinity Broadcasting. Indeed, imho, they represent the madness giving Christianity a bad name and resulting in more and more Americans choosing to remain unchurched. Open Hearts. Open Minds. Open Doors. NOT Open Greed.

Well then your point is really about TBN and its theme park, not the remarriage--which was the subject of the article you posted. If that's the case, then the "madness" is sourced in California and has little to do with Orlando.

At any rate, I think this discussion is getting derailed since we're talking about CHARLOTTE'S national perception and not that of any other city/state, so let's get back on topic.

Alvin Green....SC wins every time.

He hasn't been in the news since 2010--which is when the Legislature in NC went Republican and all of these right-wing tidbits started surfacing. This is why I said the two states seem to have momentarily switched places--that's the key word.

I know I'm a bit off subject, but has anyone ever wondered why CLT is one of the only major cities to not have a Hard Rock Cafe?  Not that it makes us any more of a "major city" but I think it would be cool to have one uptown near the Epicenter and/or Nascar or maybe even the new Ballpark.  If Louisville and Cleveland can support one than I'm sure we can as well.

Wasn't there one at Concord Mills when it first opened? Maybe I'm thinking of the Fox Sports Grill, can't remember.

I too have always wondered why we do not have a Hard Rock Café. Not that the food is gourmet, as I would rather go to a local restaurant and support it, but it just makes me wonder, especially when you see the cities that do have Hard Rock Cafes...some are a little bizarre.
