Only quibble: I'm not aware of any music venues in town where liquor ISN'T available, regardless of the show, except for maybe PNC Amphitheater.

That is certainly possible, my live music days are mostly behind me but my last couple of shows at Amos' and the Visualite were liquor free IIRC. Have the laws requiring sales of a substantial amount of food or being a private club changed? It wasn't that long ago when those were the only options for any one wishing to sell mixed drinks.

NC Music Factory is doing very well, and they have numerous outdoor venues. But let me be frank here. NC Music Factory is very disconnected from the urban fabric of the city. The might as well be an island you have to get to by gondola. They are certainly an extremely valuable asset for the region, but its impossible to walk to and it doesn't fit the mold/cache of what exactly I'm looking for.

I've actually walked there several times. You meet the most interesting people taking the shortcut over the tracks. ;-)

Those laws always seemed really laxly enforced to me, but I think that once you pay admission for a show, it meets the private club criteria. If I remember right, the liquor at Visulite is below the counter while the wall is all beer, so you may have just not seen it.

Pardon?

Sorry, I was trying to parody Twitter.

I just mean the BoA tower is so iconic, symbolic (a Crown for the "Queen City"?), and perfect placement for being right at the center of Uptown at Trade & Tryon, I'd hate to see anything upstage it.

LOL You're fine! I just didn't understand. And I do agree the BOA tower is very Iconic, It's the U.S. Bank Tower of the Southeast.

Under the bridge in the above photo RDF posted  is where CSX and Norfolk Southern lines cross.  There is no way get light rail over there but they could do a shuttle like the old Gold Rush during the day and evening that could work if NC Music Factory would help with it.

:offtopic:

The music factory is perhaps the most difficult place ever to serve by transit. The proposed multiuse trail that will be build along the tracks around Gateway station may help a bit (particularly in combination w robust bikeshare capacity).

Alternatively, you could build the most expensive and ridiculous streetcar line ever that would connect Gold Line phase 2 at 5 points, to the NCMF (after crossing an incredibly expensive bridge over the interstate) to Camp North End to NoDa and then Plaza Central. It would be silly, incredibly expensive and not connect much to much but I love some fantasy transit.  (the dots on the map are not intended to be stops)

Can't say the I believe that there is anything promissing  about this "fantasy transit" route.  the biggest fantasy would be that it would be a pleasant, safe ride But, that is only my opinion. I am sure that most people , especially unescorted young ladies, would feel perfectly fine. .  How did we get on to this from "Tryon-place-crescent-project-at-Try-and-stonewall?

They should make a direct connection through the cemetery into NCMF (I like how no one refers to it as Avidxchange Music Factory).   For instance, make North Cedar connect with one of the paths in the cemetary and turn it into a nice pedestrian only street that connects right over into NCMF BLVD.  That way, you don't have to move any graves.  You can throw some lights in there...

Seems like we steered off topic (to a creepy topic I might add).

Lets revisit the Ally Charlotte Center, lol.  Does anyone know if this is designed to potentially have two floors added a la BOAT?  In the same way that BOAT looked better stretched out, I wonder if this tower might be more appealing if it was stretched out by 2 more floors. @ricky_davis_fan_21, I think you mentioned you were going to write a review/critique of the new Tryon Place.  Did that ever hit the stands? If so, I missed it.

haha, I've been sorta busy at my day job, and something just dropped on my lap about the Polk Building that I have to write first. I personally think the building would look a little better proportioned if it were stretched out a few floors, but not like Covfefe Plaza.

Oh no. No, no, no. No,No, No. The living use this space now. The purpose of a cemetery is to serve the living not the dead. To serve them with compassion, honor and dignity.

My space is there, my sister is there (as disclosure.)

i've said it before and i'll say it again.

parks are better served for the living than the dead.  move the dead so the living can use this space.

Yes this is off topic I could not let this pass
