Just saw the Motor City Casino lighting in full force. All I can say is "WOW!" The lighting bands change color with different designs, like the American Flag and such. Expect an increase in accidents on I-75 coming into downtown because it is definately a distraction! :)

The transition building between the existing Greektown Casino and St Mary's School has really shot up. From what I remember today, it rises a bit higher than the school, and has some really high floor to ceiling heights. It was four floors and the top floor had a large arch that spanned the full length of 4 or 5 columns of windows. That feature was kind of fake and cheesey looking. But regardless, the building massing provides a nice continuity in the street wall.

Photo Gallery of MGM Grand Detroit.

They really know what they were doing. It looks great. Can't wait to go....hopefully the gov't will get its act together...Yet I still don't understand why the casinos will close. They don't cost taxpayers anymore, therefore, the gov't won't LOOSE money if they stay open, they only GAIN money. I suppose that's why the state is messed up right now. We have elected the ignorant people in office.

A landscaped median was installed on what was once a very bland and broken 3rd Street. The DTE Energy property on the opposite side is installing a city block-sized garden.

Bagley and 3rd showcases the corner focal point of the casino, which has a seasonal theme...here pumpkins and autumn leaves.
