A pile driver has been pounding what appear to be metal poles into the ground all day at the parking deck site. Other work on-site continues.

I saw the piledriver right at the edge of the downtown expressway. I didn't realize they were building right up to the edge.

I know, but from down on the expressway, the tall caisson looked like it was right over the expressway. Talk about a tunnel effect if there is going to be a lot of height right at Byrd Street.

Excavation continues for the parking garage sub-level(s). How many sub-levels will this parking garage have.

Not sure... and without any sort of street level interaction as part of the deck, it will surely create even more dead space along Byrd St.

Considering that block fronts several hundred feet of 6 lanes of road and then 6 lanes of highway... is it really that bad? I find that section pretty loud and not pedestrian friendly... but if they were ever to cover that section of highway to link it back with the bulk of the CBD... now then I think you will have a big time argument...

Some concrete has been poured. I saw a mud mat poured along the eastern perimeter of the site. (This is to provide a stable ground to work from.)

Foundation work well underway as well work for the structure itself. From what I can make of the construction of the structure, it looks like the sub-level will be cast in place concrete. From ground level and up will appear to precast panels.

I guess we will see for sure in about another 4 to 6 weeks?

The Federal Reserve parking deck is starting to rise rapidly now.

^^^Indeed it is. I was on 5th Street watching the work.

A crane is onsite and precast panels are being lifted and welded into place.

Nice! Will the garage front the whole end of Byrd Street, corner to corner?

It appears that the corner of 5th and Byrd won't be covered... which makes me think they are saving it for later commercial phases of Foundry Park. I'm not sure how far east the deck will extend though.

From my angle, the Federal Reserve garage looks to be closer to the river than the MeadWestVaCo building, but maybe it's just the angle.

It is the angle. Meadwesvaco is along 7th St from near Byrd towards the river.

Curious how that looks like from your office. Can you share a pic of what you are seeing?
