Yup... Im back... I think we might need to recognize a blossoming single family and row home boom in the downtown, church hill, fan, oregon hill, and several other close in areas. Development is going in that direction it would seem. And we all know, businesses follow what? Occupied rooftops... just a matter of time ladies and gents... just a matter of time...

I know I know... where have I been... Well, Im sure Ill get to explaining that sometime soon... But lets just say I am back for the time being... Some insider information on this project, re-zoning and special use portion of this project will go forward as planned... expected building though will be contigent on the ever-present issue of funding. Banks aren't necessarily balking at this project, but they want to see some more 'real estate' momentum in the area first. Expect those numbers to be good by the end of this year. On my street (33rd) there are 17 homes being renovated or built within a 4 block walk in either direction. Taking standard statician junk and applying that to all of the proximity of Church Hill, Id say the 'real estate' numbers will back a solid uptick of investment funding. I dont know if I present the right face for press secretary, but you are thinking the same way I am... somewhere in the administration is the goal... things need to be done, and need to be done now IMO. We know what they are, the power-brokers don't. Time to bring them both together.

I believe you are refering to Audubon. That is only a shopping center at the moment... in the site plan stage...

Ignore the two hour restrictions everywhere in the city on the weekends, and don't pay the meters (this is true for all street parking). No meter maids on the weekends and it is unwritten but the weekends are free parking.

I wanted to leave it alone. I might apply for that position for the next mayor. Maybe get someone in there with some design sense and no pre-concieved notion of how to run a government.

Maybe I should just do a review, having went in this store about 2 weeks or so ago... Very thorough knowledge of soaps... and you can't miss the place as they leave the door open to let the smell permeate... and it is the best that section of the city has smelled... ever! Make a pit stop... I recommend the Kitchen Soap to get grease, etc. off of your hands... all while naturally rejuvanating your skin....

Peering through the windows within the past few weeks has shown me a poshly designed space- reminiscent of the high-class DC or NYC venues... should be a real draw for the Richmond-elitists...

That sign only works for 4-6 months at a time anyways, it would be about at the end of this time around's run. They only turn it on when it is time to push for new leasee's anyways. Oh well. It looks good for about a month. Now, I cringe when I walk the dog - wondering when it will explode.

Burt, I had recently heard that bit of news about Berry Burk... it is a long time coming. Unfortunately I wont live there to enjoy it as a 'walking' treat. Guess I will have to visit from my Church Hill abode. The shop that the construction crews have taken over along grace seems to only be a stockpile location for their equipment. I think they did that to prevent it from getting stolen more so than being evicted from elsewhere. They chain the door- but they also leave a light on at night - the first light on down that stretch in ages - aside from Freemans Mens Wear of course. I think Ill have more information on that National restuarant for Richmond shortly... I keep running into the developers for Miller and Rhodes and it is only a matter of time before that information spills out...

I hate to poke holes in your argument, but with that thinking, the current republican ruled state house should be banging down doors to get a mass transit plan approved. Now that to me seems the exact opposite of what they are thinking... somehow I can't see a Republican liking to admit that light rail is a good idea...

Cam, The coming soon on Auduban is in progress - engineering review and response right now... should be doing earthwork by the end of the year if not sooner... about 180,000-200,000 sf of retail on the side along Auduban, and then some satellite hotels, etc. along Oakleys a little later... The rest is wetlands, to be preserved as such.

As llong as they keep the current landscaping...

Consider it a trade off for getting the grid back where the existing Coliseum is.... Besides, ending 4th St at a nice plaza in front of a grand entrance to a new stadium would be WAY more dramatic than running into or crossing over 195... IMO...

Maybe we should start a movement in the state house and senate to form a mega-opolis out of Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield and someone else if they play nice - thus forcing regional cooperation. We could have a 21 seat city council and 1 power mayor. TAKE THAT Money-sucking suburbs!! Bet they would love regional transit then!

Yeah... How about the 4-6 blocks bounded by 3rd, 5th, Main and the 195 to the south. You could elevate the stadium over parking and have cary and canal pass under to provide cross access and access to the parking decks under the stadium... especially since that area is slightly risen to begin with. Main would be ground level with the entrance. I know I know, I am off my rocker, but the fact remains that area is slow to turn, and it opens up the old stadium site for new Biotech or Skyscraper development...
