Totally agreed.  At least the sort of blend into their surroundings to some degree.  Haven is just like a big ugly turd plopped down right in the forefront of one of the better skyline views.

I was looking at the renderings again and noticed that they've paired together the upper floors by alternating between glass and masonry spandrels, so that two floors just look like one floor at a glance. If you don't look too closely it gives the building the impression of only being 24ish stories, which might make it more palletable to naysayers who oppose anything tall.

 

I've noticed this on a couple other buildings in NYC:

4 Times Square uses this same method on the side of the building facing 42nd Street. It gives a much more subdued and classy feeling to the facade when you're looking at it from street level on 42nd, while the building as a whole is a little more wild.

 

 

Also Sutton Tower caught some serious opposition from local neighbors because of its height, so they broke up the glass spandrels with masonry every 3 or 4 floors to hide the fact that's 65 stories.

This one "feels" like a project that will happen and happen in a relatively fast fashion.  Hoping the tea leaves aren't misleading with this one.  Just wow.

And when I say relatively fast, I'm not talking about this year.  I just mean like Albion Music Row, which was announced in September 2022 and less than two years later, is seeing full steam ahead type movement.

Could be wishful thinking on my part but getting similar vibes from Mid-City, albeit not quite as strong as with St. Regis.  Time will tell...

IMO, the St. Regis proposal would just add SO MUCH and in SO MANY ways.

The irony with regards to this image is, that in this thread there is incessant nattering and caterwauling from some posters about glauss bauxeses. Yet going by this image most of the buildings aren't glauss. And the buildings that are glauss aren't bauxeses. The non glass buildings are the ones that are the so called bauxeses, and the glass buildings are the ones that have either distinctive features and/or shapes that set them apart from each other. Hmm...

I can... but that also terrifies me based on how we allow sidewalks and street lanes to be closed down indefinitely for some projects.

Church Street between Nashville Yards, 1010 Church, and the Prime/Alcove towers has been absolutely terrible for pedestrians for the last 3 years. Simultaneous cross-street projects really strain the way Metro manages right-of-way.
