I think it’s because of the lack of support services in this area, restaurants , decent retail etc. it’s like a forgotten child. Connecting it with the Gulch would make a huge difference ( get that pedestrian bridge built) but it’s like all the players are afraid to take the first plunge, waiting for the other to make the first move. The Ritz project was doomed from day one, because the developers didn’t have enough to make it happen. Hopefully from the word of mouth we are hearing, there’s still some hope for it to happen soon. If so then others will follow.

Yeah, no more hotels, especially not downtown right next to the convention center and tourist district!! Would way rather our visitors have to stay in Airbnbs in our neighborhoods.

Do you think we could swap the roundabout for the Bermuda Triangle?  it would be a vast improvement.  Crossing the Styx is sort of like entering the gates of Hell  as the story goes.

It is what lurks in the middle of this Bermuda Triangle or Sargasso Sea. Someone just needs to make them an offer they can't refuse so everyone will benefit.

It's very telling/interesting/encouraging that the Ritz project is potentially getting a boost from the St. Regis announcement.  Perhaps we should ask @MLBrumby to lie to his friend and tell them Oriental and Shang Ri La are also coming to that same area!

Count me as one whose excitement for the St. Regis is only increased when considering it might help revive/rejuvenate the Ritz project.  I'm about an hour north of Baltimore and the one downtown circle  there is what I envision for Nashville's.

Remember when "grit" was a selling point for new urbanism?  We just need more neon lighting to enhance the dystopian ambiance of 8th South & Lafayette.   Rather than a dark stygian void filled with eldritch mutants lurking in shadows, let's embrace the macabre spectacle and illuminate the whole scene in vibrant magenta and blue lighting.   Step #1 is to cut down the "Sticks" art installation.   Step 2: Neon everywhere.  Step 3: ???  Step 4: Profit!!!

Thanks for the visual mock-up.  See, with some modifications it would be a nice addition to the skyline and a much needed break from all the horizontal roof tops.

I’m just looking at that mockup, and can’t help myself daydreaming about what that scene can look like in about 5 years if some long awaited projects come to fruition. Especially center left , the Congress, Centrum, Tishman projects along with this St Regis tower, hopefully the Ritz, and Circle projects. The other Somera buildings, and other Pie Town towers. Then the Midtown towers of Reed, Beaman, and a couple others, along with the Y and 1001 Church. There’s still a chance that within the next few years we can add another 20-30 towers of 20plus stories in the central city and that’s not counting the EastBank .

I think that things are trending that way at least a little bit. Based on the firm that is designing this project's amazing portfolio, I am expecting something in the same vein as these designs-

Still a lot of glass but clearly has some classic inspiration and will stand out well there.

@NissanvilleTitans please don't ever stop.  Dreaming and imagining is such a big part of this.  Please keep them coming!  I tried it myself last year.  I have zero skills or knowhow though, so please keep treating us.
