New 821 Area Code Being Added for Upstate

Verizon is already requiring I use  864 for local call.

Weird. I have Verizon and have never had to use our 864 area code for local calls.

I guess you have a point. I have Verizon also and have always had to have the area code included when dialing.

I never use the 864 on Verizon, until the other day when I had to start using it.

Sad threads like this is exactly why I am here. Almost as depressing as Daylight Saving Time…almost.

Quick correction (as I've noticed people everywhere making this mistake): Daylight Saving Time is great!  Standard Time (which we are in now) sucks.

I actually prefer Standard.

I just called my brother and then my wife, without using the 864 area code. Maybe Verizon is not requiring it for everyone?

What's so sad about it? It's a change in the area and some of us are interested in it. Not all of us have time to surf the Internet all day just to put stuff here. And most of us aren't going to post here just to complain either. We have other goals and purposes. Most of us are working or building business. That leaves little time for this.

I am still able to make local calls on Verizon without using the area code. Is this going to change?
