Sure, anyone can appeal. It depends on how many of the appeals they grant. 2017 was the many appeals were granted.

I am unfamiliar with the process other than I filed a review on my first home. It was easy and it was granted. I am sure for higher dollar projects that the legal process can be much more complex.

Pogue directed economic development in Georgia’s Clayton County, implementing the county’s 2013 Economic Development Plan to generate more than 2,014 jobs and $170 million in investment.

He also served as deputy director of economic development in Cook County, the nation’s second-largest county, and was founder and president of the Waterworks Group, a Chicago-based economic development and real estate advisory services firm.

Pogue is a certified economic developer (International Economic Development Council) and holds Economic Development Finance Professional and Housing Development Financial Professional designations (National Development Council).

Can someone explain this to me-

If the property tax rate is automatically adjusted so metro cannot take in more revenue after a reappraisal (by state law), why does the article state "After the state-mandated rate adjustment, the city typically adjusts the rates back up again to capture revenue growth from the rise in property values". 

If the state requires metro to adjust the rate down, but then metro subsequently adjusts the rate back up, what is the point of the state law?

So counties/municipalities can't hide a tax increase in a reappraisal. If they want to raise taxes per state law it has to be done via tax rate increase instead of under the table by increasing appraised values.

From today's Metro Covid update - Music City Center will stop providing first (Pfizer) shots on May 7th and second shots, 3 weeks later, on May 28th. The explanation centered on health department workers needing to get back to their offices and start working toward fall student, traditional (non Covid) vaccinations before school starts. It was also talked about letting MCC get back to conventions. MCC walk ins will increase to 1000 as people are slowing down on getting vaccinations. It was pointed out that folks have a lot more options now to get vaccinated and aren't as reliant on metro. A reporter asked if the low availability of ICU beds is COVID related and they said probably not. This may just be fairly close to pre covid rates.

Are we going to stop issuing business licenses locally, or shun all new restaurants and startups on moral grounds?  In fact, on a microeconomic level, for each of us as individual Nashvillian and Tennesseans, our very presence here and any labor we conduct within state lines (including the economic output of Betsy and Bob) is furthering the state's economic engine as we speak. If this is the line of thinking, it seems to me that a proactive general strike would be more effective at capturing the attention of our fellow Tennesseans and the General Assembly we've elected than scaring off a would-be-relocation and missing out on bagging a corporation or two that were never guaranteed in the first place. It should also be noted that missing out on any given corporate relocation is a pretty mundane occurrence that doesn't tend to make too many waves since that same loss is experienced by 49 out of 50 other states for just about every major corporate move. Or is the idea that we're going to continue majorly wooing big corporate relocation prospects and stirring up excitement among the people (who mostly aren't paying attention anyway and many of whom oppose growth/relocations in the first place) only to then change our tune and shoo the Oracles of the world off just to hang the albatross around the GA's neck in a bid to generate resentment and therefore change- because it seems to me that strategy could only work once maybe twice at most, but more likely not at all. 

As I see it, anyone from Tennessee who would oppose the relocation of Oracle and the jobs that come with it for the reasons stated in the Scene article without also reducing or eliminating there own economic output within the state is simultaneously preventing the arrival of institutions, people, and money that can potentially help positively influence the state's cultural and legislative trajectory while also continuing to do their part on a personal level to keep the state's economic engine humming along and ensuring the maintenance of the status quo they are purportedly seeking to disrupt.

Taking their logic one step further, the moral thing to do then would be to relocate their own personal labor and resulting economic output out of Tennessee altogether in protest of the legislature's regressive actions, but even this option is only available to those privileged enough to have the skills and resources necessary to pack up and leave - which of course would worsen the status quo for those whom the leavers want to protect and would be leaving behind.

While their hearts may be in the right place, the better course of action for Betsy, Bob, and all of us is to welcome and encourage those people and entities interested in coming to Tennessee that we believe can help to make it better for everyone - in spite of the legislature. Better jobs and more people can lead to better education and more resources for the state as a whole, which has a much better chance for improving the quality of our state governing bodies than deliberately shooting ourselves in the foot.

It is a beyond terrible and idiotic take. And the state rep from Bean Station or whatever could not care less if Oracle comes to Nashville. It would only serve to hurt the city, which is a VERY welcoming city to all, and have zero impact on those it allegedly aims to punish.

We've pretty much captured most the people willing to actively seek out the vaccine. Now it is a matter of getting it to people who are on the fence or not likely to be proactive.

^^yes! While nobody expects 100% of the population to get vaccinated, it's beginning to look like there might be concerns about what percentage actually get the vaccine. However, time will tell us much in a few months when many variables stabilize

The problem is that with fewer people getting vaccinated, the more likely this thing mutates and gets worse making the current vaccine worthless and dangerous for everyone.  It may seem heartless but if you do not get the vaccine and you get sick, then you deserve what you get. I still have no sympathy for stupidity and I never have and never will. I was in the military and there was the old adage that says "Suck it up". All of these folks on both sides of the political spectrum for what ever reason they are not getting the vaccine just need to suck it up and do what you are supposed to do. Fifty and sixty years ago people did their duty, and did what they needed to do. Imagine if everyone decided not to have their children get the polio vaccine or the small pox vaccine when we were kids. Those diseases would still be killing and crippling people in this country today. but folks did what they were supposed to do.
