The monumental staircase in the project is really confusing.  You can just barely see it in the last photo. It’s a huge stair that basically dead-ends into the side of the building and a tiny sidewalk. Even presuming that the sidewalk gets expanded when the second building is built, the layout just seems really awkward.

They are making pedestrian improvements to the alleyway. Once the second building is built, there will be a lot of activity in that area between this building, Pins, and 125 11th Ave.

The US always does City alleys on the cheap. In most other developed countries, they’d use attractive pavers for the alley and the sidewalks.

Not disagreeing with you (entirely), but it could be possible that the alley design won't be fully realized until the next building (behind Pins Mechanical) is fully built. Wouldn't make sense to spend a bunch of money if the alley was just going to get destroyed by construction equipment. It would be nice it ends up being a nice woonerf, but really it just comes down to $$$.

Additionally...the alley belongs to the city.  If a paver breaks, the city would not be interested in replacing it with a more costly piece.

It adds a nice level of mid-rise to this area, and good building density to the area, as well.

Puttshack will open its 28,000-square-foot entertainment venue on Nov. 24 in the 1111 Church Street tower. The main attraction at Puttshack will be its four nine-hole mini-golf courses, taking advantage of the company’s trackball technology — allowing automatic scoring. A stage for live music and DJ booth provide the backdrop for a round of golf, or a break from the sport.

Two full-service bars will feature signature cocktails, including a frozen Bushwacker — with Kahlua coffee Liqueur, Baileys Irish Cream, Bacardí Black, Mozart chocolate liqueur, espresso, cream of coconut, hazelnut and chocolate syrups. 

The food menu offers a long list of globally inspired shareables, flatbreads, salads and sandwiches. For each "Nashville Tailpipe" ordered, a meat-and-three inspired spring roll, Puttshack will donate $1 to Atlanta-based nonprofit The Giving Kitchen.

Puttshack will be open Sunday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Thursday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Puttshack adds a needed family friendly attraction to downtown Nashville until it becomes 21-and-up at 8 p.m. The Gulch outpost will have around 200 employees total.

Went to Puttshack today for a Friends and Family event.  Tons of fun.  Those folks are going to KILL IT.  Official opening date is Black Friday.
