Don’t forget there is another distro center of approximately 1000 jobs under the code name “Project Bishop”.  I suspect that might be Amazon.  

Separately, does anyone know what happened to “Project Popcorn” ?  It went silent.  Last I read they had shifted away from looking to build to suit and instead are now looking for existing space which Rowan EDC said they don’t have a building of the size the company would be looking for.  @theronhobbs perhaps you have some insight into this since you seem to have an ear to the ground when it comes to industrial projects?

Great news for Cabarrus County today!!  Apparently the facility will be going up on the former Phillip Morris site which is home to several announcements over the last couple of years.

Cabarrus County is en fuego lately and this replaces all the jobs basically lost with Phillip Morris into a much more diversified base.   GREAT news for the county and the Charlotte region as a whole.

Hopefully there will be more investments of this nature coming out of the NC Research Center in Kannapolis.  With the recent announcement of Eli Lilly's plant in Concord, maybe Cabarrus County can position itself as a pharmaceutical center.

Here is the land Golden Home a Chinese company will build on it was announced a while back at the Grounds at Concord aka Phillip Morris site.  Plus the greenfield land Eli Lily will put their campus on opposite side of Hwy 29.

There has been a marked uptick in interest and actual development at the various interchanges on I-85 throughout Rowan County.  From my perspective, the county is on the cusp of being one of the focal points of growth in the Charlotte metro area this decade!  Let's see!!

I agree with the widening and completion of I-85 through southern part of the county it is closer now than ever in time to Charlotte.   Plus it is convenient to all 3 most populated regions in the state.

Opened at the Carolina Mall in Concord.  Apparently this setup, allows small entrepreneurial retailers to establish a "brick and mortar" presence so to speak.  A lot of these establishment are usually online/internet based only.  Hopefully this allows future independent store owners to  eventually thrive in the various downtowns (or shopping centers) throughout the metro area.

I wonder if project Rabbit is Target.  Sounds like they are doing 4 large distribution centers for their online business and since it was said this is NOT Amazon this could be the company.  This could be the DC for southeast region.
