Just saw on the news that Publix will be joining The Packing District with a new store on the NE corner of Princeton and NOBT.

That makes sense given how crowded the CP Publix often is these days. It’s a little odd that Winn Dixie was the grocery store on that corner for years and they don’t seem to be one of the players.

And Winn Dixie just closed at JYP and 50 a few years ago as well as the distribution center up JYP north of Princeton.

The tag office at 2110 W. Colonial (Western Way) was the long time WD on that stretch. It and the Fairvilla store were clones (Dr Phillips built both shopping centers and both had cool neon signs).

The JMFields/Pantry Pride in Parkwood closed in 1979 when that chain went belly up. WD moved in a few years later, originally as a “Table Supply” discount store (the original name for WD in Miami in the ‘20’s). Apparently it didn’t catch on and they rebranded it as a WD later on.

For all you Mayor Glenda fans, her hubby’s family had their grove equipment store on the stretch of OBT just south of Fairvilla Center as well.

At today's MPB, the 3rd Wave apartments, a 293-unit multifamily development with an associated parking garage, just south of The Packing District on OBT moved forward.  This is not owned by Dr. Phillips, but shows that the development is inspiring more redevelopment along the corridor.

wow.  this is kind of shaping up like the downtown Maitland series of buildings they built over the past five or so years from the Sunrail station south to the Horatio area...and earlier than that the Villages at Lake Lilly.

That 6th floor visor is something special, though!

A TRULY INSPIRED design.

But, yes, it is after all 6 floors up!  Perhaps the tallest thing to the west of those condos/apartments along Edgewater & Princeton in College Park...

that's the name of it!  Wellesley...and I believe The Princeton? is the newer one?

The apartment complex at the Princeton/Smith split was too big for the site. Some developer got greedy and the neighbors were right to bring out the pitchforks. Of course, it didn’t matter much because Buddy is incapable of saying no to a developer.

Huh? It looks fine on that site. Its another NIMBY freakout then it gets built and oh its fine, if not a little small.

I didn't realize how large the park is in the Packing District. Per OBJ, "Orlando has filed for a dog park on 2.2 acres at 1996 W New Hampshire Street in the 202-acre mixed-use district. The $750,000 phase would be part of the 66-acre park, which includes a new Orlando Tennis Centre set to be completed this summer, as well as the nearby 32,000-square-foot Leonard & Marjorie Williams Family YMCA that will open this year."

Some pictures from earlier today. The large open area is the now clear Southwest corner of Princeton and OBT. I couldn’t get a picture in my moving vehicle, but there are some condos being built it looks like behind the new YMCA and they’ve made a lot of progress. Also the old round juice  stand on the northeast corner is built out.

Wow that rendering looks a lot bigger than what the property appears to look like.  Also can we talk about the massive infrastructure and money necessary to build something at the scale of Grills for what is effectively a glorified Gator's Dockside.  I mean, a nice one, but one nonetheless.
