After that OUC Community Forum, Fratelli's catered chow-down, I'm spoiled.

I might show up for free tacos and beer or free wings and beer.

But hot dogs just wouldn't get me to drive that far and hassle with parking and the crowds.

And to think OUC is cheaper than Duke and they feed you too! How downright RELIABLE of them.

Oh well, in Trampa there’s always Bern’s...

@jrs2 , you wanted Coach Leavitt for the Bulls. Instead he’s going to the REAL South Florida to become Coach Taggart’s DC at FAU.

Meanwhile, a heartbreaker at Oklahoma. Our MBB Knights were 9.5 point underdogs in Norman, but almost pulled the upset, going down 53 - 52. They’re 9 -3 as AAC play begins on 12/31. (This is their second 1-point loss; the first was to Penn. What’s up with us and 1-point losses?)

Anyway, Charge On! ‘til Monday, where we’ll be wining and dining @JFW657 for the Gasparilla Bowl.

Congrats to the University of West Florida, the most recent state school to win a National Championship in football since UCF’ s in 2017!

UWF’s is in Division II and a program only 4 years old. Great job!

Meanwhile, C-USA team FAU blew out AAC power SMU 52 -28 in the Boca Bowl (we won’t mention our Knights tore the Owls apart earlier in the season). Huge win for a Florida team movin’ on up with new coaches Willie Taggart and Jim Leavitt.

Florida’s gonna be a college football hotbed again but with different players this time around.

Charge On!

@jgardnerucf, we’ve added Tampa to Oviedo and Bithlo!

(Enlarge the second pic...)

Charge On!

Or, as Channe 9 used to croon:

”From the Gulf Coast to the Space Coast, and your hometown square, and everywhere, then we’ll be there.”

Tacko conducts - this man is everywhere and Boston fans are enchanted. Once again, the Magic totally are clueless- imagine how this *Built Bu UCF* gentle giant would have played here at home.

He seems like a really swell guy, but his bball contributions are nominal. Btw, Shaq also conducted the Pops.

Bianchi tries to wax nostalgic about college football bowls but the truth is they simply represented a money grab that made Division 1 football the only sport without a playoff. Finally, we’re seeing the reality of that trickle down as even the best players can’t be bothered with games that are for the most part meaningless and lead nowhere. A surprising number of the bowls are now money losers for the schools. It’s time for a REAL playoff.

But does Shaq speak 3 languages? Tacko is the Renaissance Man as declared by the Citizens of the Hub of the Universe*!

*aka Boston

Boston 21-7

Magic 13-17

Avg attendance this year:

Boston: 18, 992

Magic:   16, 684

Obviously, the Magic need more Tacko in their diet!

And has a degree in engineering. He is truly an amazing person. However, I suspect Boston's winning record puts more butts in the seats than he does. The Magic also sell out when they have a top 3 team.

Besides, we already have a long arm defensive menace who smiles a lot and is a pleasure to be around. His name is Jonathan Isaac. Bonus points in that he is also good at basketball.

@jgardnerucf, you nailed it. Gasparilla Bowl attendance was < 15k. We should have gone to the Cure Bowl. Of course the weather didn’t help and Marshall’s turnout wasn’t great. We seemed to be most of who showed up.

Of course, this is just one more reason it’s time to acknowledge bowls are past their prime and it’s time to stop being the only sport without a playoff.

I sort of feel for the upper tier worth a damn bowl games - the ones that the host cities cherished, had noble philanthropies etc.    Truly a two front war for them between the playoffs and the insane amount of laughable games that diminish the value of being a bowl team.

it’s not out of the realm of possibility that one motivator for ESPN to create and promote many of these newer bowls was to push the older bowls towards adopting a larger 8+ team  playoff.
