well this is interesting Amazon up in Arlington VA the 2nd HQ so to speak will have bollards and other "devices" to thwart off vehicles that could ram into the building.   Wonder if they will feel the need to have some of this in Nashville?

Grand Hyatt update.  That upper section sure seems defined enough to be considered a 24th floor (especially on the south side facing Broadway).  Also, progress on the western side facade.

I'm wondering what those concrete pillars are in the last and other photos.  It doesn't seem to be shaped like a building but more like a roadway of some sort.  Is that what it is?  Thanks!

They are the pillars for upper 10th ave, which will run from the back end of the Amazon parking garage to about where Commerce street is, which is the end of the AEG development.

The actual "topping out " has occurred as these final struts go up on top of the western wall of glass.  From the drawings it appears the vertical pieces still need to be applied to the lower part, but the real pinnacle has been achieved.  Sadly, I see no evidence of lights or other decoration being installed.

I was looking through the drawings from the shell permit and didn’t see anything about lighting along the western wall either. 
 

As an additional note, here is the Tennessean’s coverage of the recent signage application that was submitted to the city. Nothing really new here(except that the Grand Hyatt is apparently opening in the fall), but it does give a good overview of the development.

While we were all wishing for a 700' tower here, this 20 story building is going to definitely have a presence when you're on Church street...

Speaking of Church Street, are there any plans to make aesthetic changes to the sidewalk (is it even possible)? It'd be great to have mini murals here or make the sidewalks wider (unlikely).
