More Accolades for Nashville

Not only more home games but better scheduled home games.  Thur,Fri,Sat,Sun as opposed to Mon,Tues,Wed.

The Nashville Predators being awarded the Presidents Trophy for finishing the NHL season with the best record in the 31 team league in the '17-'18 season. They amassed a franchise record 117 points with a 53-18-11 record.  April 7, 2018, Bridgestone Arena, Smashville, TN

"There is something like 200 projects in Nashville alone currently underway, which is incredible. I think it speaks highly to the local economy that there is money to do it and there is investment being put it into it. I like to see that from the retail side of things because it means they anticipate people to come here, which means retailers will come and people will spend money. I think it’s fantastic with the number of mixed-use developments. It’s probably more than I have seen anywhere else. I knew Nashville was a hot market but actually seeing it and seeing all the cranes and the holes in the ground that are being filled is really fantastic."

A writer for a Columbus Bluejackets hockey fan site attended his first game in Smashville last Saturday night.  He was quite impressed with the whole evening...

Those fans are LOUD. They cheer from nearly the word go, and rarely let up. Our friends sat next to Section 303, which is dubbed “Cell Block 303” and prides themselves on making noise throughout the game. The fans cheer. They chant after goals (coordinated, insulting chants that caught me off guard). But it was fun to see - it was the type of home ice atmosphere that, frankly, I hope Nationwide Arena can become one day. The arena is imposing toward opposing teams and gives the home team a mental edge. It was really cool to see live.

The Nashville fans, to an individual, were incredible to us. They welcomed us at every single stretch, suggesting food recommendations and offering to buy drinks. They treated us with respect, never acted obnoxiously or bad-mouthed our team or our presence in their arena in ways some visiting fans have done in Nationwide. I have not one negative thing to say about the fanbase of the Nashville Predators - every single person we interacted with in the city was wonderful. We highly recommend the experience if anyone gets the opportunity to travel down.

Another year another great accolade. Even if Nashville isn't technically getting 100 people a day, it has the lowest unemployment rate in the country. In which I would honestly rather choose the latter.

Global hotel research company STR has released a report on the state of the industry and in which various figures show that Nashville’s hotel industry continues to perform at very high levels, and that the outlook for the future remains very bright. Some screen shots from the report below.

According to Sports Business Journal the Predators saw the NHL's biggest increase in local TV ratings during the 2017-18 season (82 game season). The 163 percent boost in Predators viewership dramatically outstripped the second-biggest gainer, the Dallas Stars, who saw an 88 percent increase.

Home sales in metro ticked up 3% in April, compared to same time last year. There were 3,419 closings according to data released Monday by the Greater Nashville Realtors. 

Single-family homes sold in April for a median price of $295,000, up from $275,000 a year ago. Condo units sold for a median price of $222,750, up from $195,255 a year ago.

Bruce Willis said it first; when Planet Hollywood opened....to paraphrase, he said that Nashville was a very cosmopolitan town; although, I heard that he and Demi rarely left the hotel.

Nashville Brewing Co. claimed a silver award at the recently held 2018 World Beer Cup.

NBC won the award in the Munich Helles beer style category for its Nashville Original Lager, a golden lager brewed with Weyermann Pilsner malt and Hallertauer Mittelfrüh hops.

Awards were given in 101 beer-style categories during the World Beer Cup award ceremony held last week at Music City Center.

World Beer Cup winners were selected by an international panel of 295 beer judges from 33 countries, 72 percent of whom were from outside the United States.  Widely regarded as the “Olympics of Beer,” the World Beer Cup saw 8,234 entries from 2,515 breweries in 66 countries — the largest competition to date.

Wow, you were really on that answer! I've judged literally thousands of small events, usually with a few friends - in a bar - watching sports. Don't know about the impervious liver. Definitely haven't completed Cicerone program.... Dangit.
