RevPar Green Hills has filed a lawsuit in U.S. District court against Rochford Realty, Trey Rochford, and Bedford Commons Assoc. for trying to slow down approval on the 135 room Hyatt Place Hotel to be built on .9 acre at 3818 Bedford Ave.

RevPar alleges that the association members created a design review committee to derail their project, which "would compete with the Green Hills Hampton Inn" just up the road. In court filings, the defendants confirm that Rochford Realty founder John Rochford is part-owner of that hotel, and that Donald "Trey" Rochford, his son, "holds a contingent future interest" that "is unlikely to vest for decades."

"Plaintiff contends that the [design review committee's] conclusions are arbitrary and capricious … and are but a pretext for preventing competition with the nearby Hampton Inn," RevPar says in its lawsuit. "In fact, it appears that no [design review committee] had ever been formed before the one that rejected Plaintiff’s hotel plan. … Plaintiff has incurred substantial damages on account of the unreasonable delay in obtaining approval of its hotel project, estimated to be on the order of $10 million, and will continue to do so."

RevPar is alleging violations of federal antitrust laws and asking a judge to declare that the Bedford Commons Association must approve the hotel as designed.

In response, the defendants demand a jury trial over the matter. They say no design review committee existed previously because there wasn't a need — "no one had submitted plans to Bedford Commons that required design review."

Does anyone have any scoop on when the Mall at Green Hills is planning to open the new connector addition  to Dillard's? The last I heard (quite a while ago) was a nebulous "late summer".

I wonder if they will open prior to all the tenants being ready or wait for a big reveal. Crate & Barrel, I'm guessing the biggest new tenant, pulled their permit 2/22 and I'm guessing at a 5-6 month build, but the smaller tenants could be complete earlier.
