Re: Travelers Rest Crossing (Travelers Rest)

Assuming that Travelers Rest Crossing has received the official green light to become reality, have there been any recent rumblings to what will be going in?

Re: Cherrydale Point Phase II (Greenville)

Olive Garden, Starbucks, and Petco are close to opening. They should all be open within a few weeks.

The other large building looks more like an office supply store. If you see red being painted on the exterior, it is Staples. The layout appears more like Office Max.

There's talk of another restaurant - Fatz Cafe or Fuddruckers. Both would do very well in the immediate area. Fatz Cafe is currently finding its brain after mistakenly closing its Congaree Road location.

Re: Sunrift Adventures (Greenville, Travelers Rest)

I hope Sunrift Adventures is looking into a second location. It would strive well with a presence in The West End while maintaining its going up location in Travelers Rest.

The building has been dormat for a few weeks. All signs have been removed.

Fatz Cafe has much trouble staying in cities and adding locations. Greenville can easily handle four or five. Travelers Rest and Taylors can also handle one each.

It is bad a locally based restaurant chain can not grow their comapny aggressively in their home city.

Even though it did receive a green light, I've heard NOTHING out of T.R. Crossing of late. Razing of the old buildings hasn't even begun as it was supposed to have earlier in 2006. I'm beginning to wonder if this development is still on.

RT - Don't forget this post from last month...

Article from Greenville online - http://greenvilleonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...EWS01/610220343

Article is about TR upgrading the sewer system on 25, but saw this update as well -

Fridy, president of Magnolia Properties Inc., plans to raze the old Emb-Tex plant on U.S. 25 in early 2007 and replace it with as much as 100,000 square feet of retail space and outparcels.

Thanks, vwsam! That sewer upgrade may very well be what the markings/flags are in the median of U.S. 25 as well. Perhaps things are just moving on more quietly than I had been aware of.

Did you make it to the meeting at City Hall last night, by chance? I had a Girl/Boy Scout Thanksgiving Dinner/Awards function to attend, so I didn't make it.

I noticed this morning that the median flags are for new trees. They have them in pots, sitting in the median waiting to be planted. Little trees - maybe 3'. I didn't make it to the meeting - had to finish some school work for class tonight. I was hoping you were there.

Here is a new story today on 'Project Apple'

http://greenvilleonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/.../611170341/1004

I know someone on here probably knows what's going on.... I just want to know if it's retail or factory.

A built up Traveler's Rest is EXTREMELY important to Greenville development. It enhances the growth of the city northwards. I remember one time a Furman graduate told me that she almost didn't come to Furman because of the view of the city from Furman into downtown.

Developing strong and attractive bedroom communities and attracting growth from downtown northwards will be very important. Glad to see this.

Travelers Rest to rezone two industrial sites

http://greenvilleonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/.../612200360/1004

Travelers Rest officials will decide Thursday whether to give two industrial sites (American Homes Ensembles and H. K. Development properties on Krieger Drive) a commercial classification.

Does anyone know what the plans are here? Are these businesses closed?

It's of little significance, but I noticed signs on Little Texas Road (across from CVS) this morning as I was running out to get cat food...Walgreen's is getting ready to build a store across from CVS in Travelers Rest. Yay! Another Pharmacy! Oh well, if it means competitive pricing, that's a benefit, I guess.
