Duke Energy Plaza Headquarters | 40 Story formerly Charlotte Metro Tower
DonkeyKong replied to AP3's topic in Charlotte
Anyone know why Duke has not turned on the Plaza building exterior lighting??? Or at least the Crown part of the building lighting. I know it has lighting because i saw them test a block of lighting when i was uptown one evening when they were still constructing it. -

Beef and Bottle is good and locally owned. -
Charlotte is more centrally located to population centers than Raleigh. Easy drive to CLT from Asheville, Greenville, Columbia, Hickory, High Point, Winston Salem, Greensboro, Boone, Raleigh .

It’s the cities fault…they opened Pandora’s box with signage. Not sure which building had the first approval, but they shouldn’t have approved any.

I'm sure some exec at Wells got sick of looking at Ally, Duke, Deloitte, BofA, Regions, Lending Tree, Honeywell, Barings, Truist, etc. signage out their office window and was like we need to slap Wells Fargo on this building.

Uptown WF workers went to renovated Class A space that they rent or Class A that they own that is newer. I have a friend that works for Duke and one that works at a law firm and both companies got the boot from Wells buildings. Plus Two Wells is a poor use of that block, so they did CLT a favor. Not to mention they have spent 500 Mil on renovations to Uptown and University area facilities.

Wasn't a hotel supposed to go there? I guess that fell through?

I walked through the park Saturday evening and there was trash all over and its smelled like urine. Uptown used to be clean. The county and the city need to do better.

Wow! Sounds like the county needs to give Lincoln Harris a call. -
Their stadium is a dump. IMO

When is the building projected to be delivered? Here is a quote from the Chicago Sun times about when they (TTX) expect to be in their new Charlotte HQ? ""Powers said the company expects to take possession of its new location in June 2024." -
One thing to consider with the site and store design is that when Lidl bought this property Southend was not nearly as dense, so it wasn't as out of place as it is and will be in the future. I do agree I wish it had a better design and site plan.

Looks like the ground breaking is today. I just drove by and there was a large tent, balloons, TV, etc. -
