  1. Nothing to speak of...at least not the day that I rode it. Clean as a whistle. The only eyewear needed might be motion sensors to detect trucks/vans entering your peripheral vision if you bike during the week. Cheers.
  2. No worries. Definitely no shade there (unless you walk back and forth beneath that large saved oak between 18th and 19th street). Looking foward to see how it integrates with the Urban Trail future plans. Also...weekends are definitely best for this section of trail to be sure. Cheers.
  3. I thought about posting this in the Trails thread (still might link it) but decided this might fit better here. I biked the SODO trail (along Division Ave) a few weeks back. Been meaning to upload a few photos. Here they are: The trail (itself) is pretty good. There are a few benches and new plantings...AND that big oak got saved (as well as a few palms). There are also a few sections of inlayed pavers which break up the monotony of the concrete. There are alot of business entrances that must be crossed....and I mean ALOT. I rode it on a Sunday and there was not much traffic at all. During a weekday I expect this trail would be a bit "dodgy" (at best) to ride due to a heavy influx of business related vehicles. The trail narrows down to a skinny sidewalk at the north end also. Hopefully some connectors will join this trail to the rest of the Urban Trail network in the future. As of now (whether heading north to south or south to north) the beginning and end are at Nowheresville. The south end is at that curve on Michigan. That's where I got on. I biked from my neighborhood over through south Delaney/Wadeview Park to get to Michigan at Orange. From there it was a bumpy sidewalk ride to the trail start. The north end is at Gore....and there is nothing there but sidewalks or (if you are brave enough) roadway along Gore or Division. Awkward to get to and awkward to get off of. Hopefully that will change in the future. There is potential for it to be a channel from Church Street (Gertrude's Walk) to SoDo...but an easier and safer connection would need to be routed. Also..it does not appear that street/trail lighting is in place (currently) to make this a comfortable bike/scooter commute after dark (unless you are fan of old John Carpenter or Wes Craven films).   4. This is the worst post I have seen on this forum (but I am not here that often). I am an avid bicycle rider. I jog regularly. I walk my dogs daily. I adhere to traffic rules and crosswalk signals (and various other pedestrian related protocols). Me (and my dogs) have nearly gotten annihilated multiple times by speeding and drifting (and distracted on their devices) commuters drifting off of the road (and sometimes all the way onto the G**Damn sidewalk). I have literally had to "yank" my dogs out of harms way (several times). 25mph in my neighborhood and drivers race by at 40+ and pass on the double yellow every day. It pisses me off. I hit every crosswalk signal (when riding my bike) and STILL have drivers flip me the bird (and cut me off) because I dare cross an intersection and interrupt their "right turn on red" DESPITE me (on my bike) having the right of way.. DRAG MY DOG ACROSS THE STREET??? man...are you okay??? Pedestrians abiding by the rules should not be subject to the demands of an impatient population of assholes behind the wheel. Do some people "do the stupid" and step out into traffic? Obviously that happens from time to time. But...this city is full of aggressive drivers....unafraid of violating speed limits and and intersection protocols. Until that changes (by whatever means) more people (like me) are gonna be casualties. Until then, Namaste.
  5. Someone else loves Clemons Produce (and he wears a pirate hat and might be a family member of the order of Psittaciformes). Been my wheelhouse "fruit and veggie" spot for years. Good folks there...and plentiful earth-grown stuff as well. Long live the Dover Shores shopping center! No worries. Cheers.
  6. Saw that news this morning. Tragic. Apparently high speed was involved. I'll be honest...the first few times I drove over some of those "looping flyovers" it unnerved the bird poop out of me. I felt a bit disoriented and the concrete barrier walls looked really short (in relation to the height of those transitions). For a low riding sedan probably not a problem (unless you are seriously speeding)...but for an SUV or a truck...man...slow your roll, I guess. Still...yikes. No worries.
  7. Not sure why. I got gas there quite a bit (when Winn Dixie offered "fuel rewards"). Pulling into those tiny islands was the most tedious thing ever... No worries. Cheers.
  8. Awning is still standing. Green space behind is bulldozed to oblivion.
  9. Spotted a large bulldozer at the Shell station at the corner of Crystal Lake and Curry Ford today (which is shut down). Wasn't sure it is an underground gas tank that is about to be replaced or the whole thing "dozed to the ground" (for something else). Any clues appreciated.. Cheers.
  10. I biked down Livingston today and took the bridge over Colonial (heading north on the UT). The stretch along Orange is fully rideably now (north and south). The city is planting alot of mature palms (and other trees) so there are still a few bits barricaded...but I made the ride without issue. It's gonna look really good when completed (I think). The crossover (on Orange) is at Marks and then the trail continues along Weber. All the major gaps are filled on Weber (with exception of around the bases of the utility poles...I am not sure if they are waiting on concrete, decorative bricks or something else). Also..the crosswalk at Weber and Magnolia is still waiting on signals (plus the trail is still busted up on the east side of that intersection). Progress is looking good. Cheers.
  11. Wasn't quite sure where to post this...but the wrecking ball has hit the office building closest to Urbon (next to Fashion Square Mall). I don't know what is headed there (too tired to look....more apartment shop/condos...maybe a lovely miniature golf course?). Either THAT or a fairly large meteor crashed there (although the local news is silent thus far). Regardless...this building is getting a full fledged beatdown currently.
  12. Still confused a bit by the routing. There is new curb on Anderson from Mills to that curve (along the Greenwood)...then it abruptly ends and right angles toward the existing sidewalk. I takes up that useless lane on the right up to that point. There is also a "notch" hollowed out (in the concrete) along the curb in this area. Is the trail gonna share the roadway and then veer south behind the oaks along the cemetary? I jogged down Anderson the other day and couldn't quite make sense of it. Oy Vey......makes my bird blood boil. I see it every day.
  13. I cannot get over how fast (almost) everbody drives....even going 40+ down 25mph neighborhood streets every day. SMH. On another note...I've seen the progress along Anderson. Looks like the trail bumps out into the roadway at Mills and continues up Anderson until about that subtle right turn (along the Greenwood Cemetary) where it will (apparently) merge with the sidewalk again. Kinda odd...as that unused lane continues east to Hampton. I honestly don't know is going to happen from Delaney to Mills. Either alot of power poles and trees are gonna have to be moved/removed or maybe the whole area from the sidewalk to Anderson is gonna be concrete and we'll just weave and dodge the obstacles as needed. Who knows. Oh well. Cheers.
  14. Metro area drivers trying their best to rehabilitate Orlando's reputation for being one of the worst cities to be a pedestrian (or bike rider): T That's on Cady Way at North Palmetto Avenue. I hope nobody was present at the time. Hey Zeus Crisco.....can we just slow down everybody?!?! Oy Vey! Crikey on a cracker! I digress. On a lighter note... I bumped into one of my card playing buddies on the trail that day. He's got a deadpan poker face but is a bit of a hot head (DO NOT question him on the accuracy of his chips).   15. I hoofed it over to the corner of Hampton and Anderson today and didn't see anything (east or west). Is the new construction down near Mills or Delaney? On Milk Mart days (and other events) most folks park over at The Plaza Theater...they have alot of free space there. It's only a short walk. It is insane. I live in the neighborhood and everytime I drive by that section I think "instant car crash". There have been several (I think three?) incidences of vehicles crashing into various Milk District business fronts in the last few months. Something needs to be done there for sure.
  16. Just another night in the Milk District... what can stop this "need for speed"? I see it everyday between Anderson and Curry Ford Road......45-50 mph (in 25mph zones). Robinson obviously gets alot of high speed exiting traffic from downtown. It is depressing. Anyway...I stole a hat from a neighbor's backyard today....it was just laying around...and appeared to be my size....... ...maybe I just borrowed it... Not sure about it yet. It's not like I binge watched Yellowstone or anything... Have a great night everybody. Cheers. p.s. That wreck was outside of Bull And Bush......heavy duty bollards are ( I think) overdue.

  18. Exciting news!! It's just a required stormwater pond. I guess I was hoping for something a little bit more interesting. In fact...I always thought that northeast triangle (of CWP) could be fenced in to make a dog park area. Oh well. What do I know. No worries. Back to picking seeds from underneath the neighbor's bird feeder. Cheers.
  19. Anybody been to (or have news) about Cady Way Park? Dozers and Shovels have been there for the last few weeks digging out a large area just northeast (right next to) the tennis courts. It is pretty deep and some sort of pipe system is being installed. Maybe a pond or some other water feature? Not sure. I could not find anything online. Cheers.

  21. Seems about white. Did the city pass an ordinance that forbids the use of colors other than white or "light" gray when it comes to new construction? All the new neighborhood battleships are white and gray...as are the most of the new "apartment malls". Would it hurt to spash something with green or orange or (God forbid) something in a brown/tan palette? Anyway....eight lanes left. The wait time for lanes will likely exceed the wait times for tables. p.s. Whoever paints over this... ...goes on my official "poop" list. Cheers.
  22. It's on Warwick (east side of the street...four lots up from Gore). It was a charming little 1951 2/1 and sold for $295,000 (?!?!). They already have the foundation laid for the new structure and (suprise suprise...) it is another "lot hog". Yeah...I forgot about that one. Make it four Lake Como houses demo'd in the last 12 (or so) months. Another house at Hempstead/Buckminster just sold for $441,000. It is a fairly large (for the area) 1952 3/2 on a large corner lot (with a pool). It needed some interior updating but the bones were great. If that one meets the bulldozer I might lose my faith in humanity. No worries. Cheers.
  23. Yeah...I know the lot you are talking about. Houses are being bulldozed frequently in Audubon Park....I see changes almost every other week. Lake Weldona neighborhood lost another "perfectly fine 3/2 brick ranch" a few weeks back. A two story 4,000 square foot battleship is incoming (which will obviously blend right in with the other houses ). No worries. Cheers.
  24. Anybody know what's going on at Tuskawilla/Aloma? Biking east on Cross Seminole (once you cross Tuskawilla) there was always a heavily wooded area to the right (I even saw horses roaming around in there periodically). It is all gone now. The area north (between the trail and a daycare center) has been cleared as well. Looks like a new neighborhood development. Thankfully a thin strip of oaks/pines was left on the south side of the trail. Not sure. Sad to see the trees go. No worries. Cheers.
