  1. It's not quite that far but I do enjoy the Little Econ trail myself. Getting there from Cady Way sucks concrete marbles but once you do "get there" the ride along the river is really nice. From Rouse Rd to UCF is nothing to write home about....but there is a great four or five miles of scenic goodness on Little Econ from Arcadia Park to Blanchard Park. Cheers. P.S. still ZERO work on the Cady Way wooden bridge. P.S.S. AndyPok1....just ride...whenever and wherever (and whatever) you can. Good on yah. Cheers. P.S.S. dcluley98 still strongly considering a 1x gearing on my next bike....getting rid of one derailleur appeals to me .
  2. dcluley98: "Go 1x for MTB all the way. I will let you know how I like this for City. " Yeah...I think I get that. Currently riding 2x8 but could definitely drop a chain ring for a couple of extra cogs in the back. Cheers.
  3. Passed by the Cady Way bridge again today. ZERO work has started on repair/replace. Still completely fenced off. Aloma Avenue sidewalks are pretty horrible for biking but it's only a little over a half mile. Don't let it stop you from getting out there, folks. Just ride your bike....it's good for the spirit (and good for you). Cheers.
  4. Ride on, brother. May your "bat cape" flap and fly as you serenade the local trails. 1x11...almost bought a bike with that gearing myself recently. Let me know how it works out for you. Also... your home is not "crappy". I've lived in smaller and (far worse) places. Also.....I hope you make good use of the rest of those bike parts leaning against the wall. Cheers.
  5. Rode my bike down Briercliff and detoured around Wadeview Park today before heading north on Mills back to Anderson. A noticeable bit of damage in the Lake Weldona and Briercliff areas as well as some trees down in the Greenwood Wetlands. I guess the twister headed north from Conway to around Lake Lawsona before it bailed. Hope everybody is okay. Cheers.
  6. Yeah...they basically chopped off a large chunk of the building including half the lanes....but it has been patched up (on the "severed" side) and looks pretty much the same in the interior. Peeking in the window it looks like time is just standing still. Every time I pass by there and see that "self storage" tarp draped over the bowling sign I mutter a few choice expletives. Cheers.
  7. Regarding the Cady Way wooden bridge.....the parks division got back to me today. It's gonna be "several months" before the bridge is replaced. It's mostly procedural (it seems)......bids have to be placed an assessed before the work is contracted out and work started. Until then....enjoy Aloma Avenue's lovely sidewalk views (which kinda suck tbh). Anyway...just thought I'd post the update. Cheers.
  8. Anybody have an update on Colonial Lanes Bowling? Went by there the other day and peeked in the windows. Looks like it is frozen in time. 16 lanes (I think) and the rest of the place look like they are stuck in a Mesozoic ember. Man...I miss that joint. Cheers.
  9. Biked by there today. Some curious folks tore down the yellow tape to explore the area (only to retreat after finding that the bridge WAS actually destroyed). Biking up Aloma (on the sidewalk) pretty much sucks...but I did it. Once you get to Palmetto Ave you can hop back on the trail. There has been NO activity on the damaged bridge (in terms of repair) that I have seen. I sent out an email to the City Parks Divsion (for an update) and will post here again if I get a reply. Until then....it's a "sidewalk ridewalk" situation if you wanna head east of Forsyth Rd on Cady Way. Happy Riding and Cheers.
  10. Thanks. It is pretty awful. Trail riders are being redirected to Aloma on a stretch of road with no bike lanes. Hopefully the bridge will be fixed soon. Cheers.
  11. The wooden bridge on Cady Way Trail between Forsyth Rd and Palmetto Ave has been burned pretty badly. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-ne-cady-way-trial-bridge-damaged-fire-20200526-3ccw7lrwnbevdc3gh7i5dyf4ry-story.html This is a big bummer. I bike that trail several times a week. Hope it gets fixed soon. Cheers.
