  1. Interested to see how/whether this communicates with the Church Street/South Broad area. Maybe someone that knows how this site worked before County Square can learn me, but I've always thought a full-blown incorporation into the downtown fabric is impaired by the the Governor's school - from a pedestrian perspective it's dependent on the West End.
  2. Hypothesis: same project as initially proposed/with some surface refinishes Reasoning: ”new way to live” : still includes higher end apartments/condos listing on loop net recently updated many developers/their sales people are self promoters and this “announcement” is just an extension of that trend. Also this project never got a big announcement and this is better for residential sales than an unceremonious backhoe
  3. But it’s being listed for lease again so maybe not that far off: http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/702-708-S-Main-St-Greenville-SC/6648808/ was not being marketed a little bit ago. Sod may be a liability/marketability consideration. Looks better and hurts less.
  4. Where did those shots come from Apropos of nothing, the dirt for that is owned by Wyche partnership
  5. Apartment will be over garage, I believe the current built elevation will be plaza level extending to Main Street, meaning work on the apartment proper hasn't begun. my reference is the latest submitted plaza designs and former plans showing the apartments sitting over a three story garage on the falls street side
  6. I imagine they really screwed the pooch by asking for redesigns after starting construction. Both Staff and Board have all the leverage now.
  7. What's really thrown me about that rendering is that every recent federal courthouse has been very well done, and this is such a dramatic departure from that trend.
  8. I wouldn't advertise it either. I think this rendering may be 9 stories. Looks like the upper windows are 2 stories a piece...
  9. Crossing my fingers that you are right. Those images came off a google search I have no inside knowledge. With Lindsay Graham running the show on this god only knows what we'll get
  10. Don't know that I'm much of a fan honestly.
  11. Leatherwood is already in that building. Thats a nonstarter.
  12. One is in a saturated market where dirt is exorbitantly expensive. The other is not.

    The West End

Fairly certain this is the Ballentine Equipment building
  14. It is still owned by the Anglican Church. They do not have a mortgage on it in excess of what they paid which leads me to believe it will be a very beautiful parking lot.
  15. They accomplished the change, GHS is a nonprofit corporation.

    The West End

They are being very coy about this. There is only one municipally owned parcel in this area, and by my count only around 6 private lots that would be candidates.
  17. The federal law is the supremacy clause of the Constitution. The GSA may make accommodations to avoid a gripe with the City, but when it comes down to it the City can't force their hand. Columbia ran into this one or two years ago when the GSA proposed razing the VA building next to Finlay Park and replacing it with a beautiful surface lot. The City's only recourse was basically to write their Congressmen.
  18. they own the dirt so the federalis don't have to submit it if they don't want to.
