  1. I wonder why they didn't use Dixon for this, seems odd to go away from them now. Orion has a bad habit of straying from the renderings in the name of 'value engineering'.
  2. Why am I having a hard time believing your username...
  3. (the area to the left of the parking deck along Monroe is called out as a future building site, the dimension from the parking deck to the inside of the sidewalk is 49')
  4. If that were me, I'd have to have a fireman's pole running the full height of the hous... ummmm... house isn't the right word... ski chalet.
  5. 8'-8" to be exact. Looks like they are building a 'new' roof and then adding a parapet around the building to hide the extra height.
  6. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt it's Kerkstra, I took a plant tour there a few weeks ago and saw some of their tables with this building curing.
  7. That was just a blown up image of the same south elevation, highlighting the note saying there is the potential for retail/restaurant. It is this section of Lyon:
  8. At least one floor. Tough to see the dimensions I know, but level 7 (existing penthouse) was about 81' above grade, now to the top of the screen wall it'll be about 109'. Also, the yellow lines are where there will be exterior lighting on this building, so all the new bumpouts will be lit to stand out at night, I'm thinking it'll be a nice touch. And there is also this:
  9. It would have to take the title of curviest street from Lombard in SF. I don't think there would be enough horizontal depth to get from Division up to Fairbanks with the number of switchbacks they would have to install. Maybe they could do something like a car funicular... Besides, I believe the long term plan is to have a board walk that starts down on Division by Lookout Park and winds it's way up to the Hastings/Coit intersection. They have already started part of the path up on Hastings.
  10. Boiler Up! Sure would've been nice to have something like this in walking distance of Cary Quad back in the day...
  11. Progress in Ada: And the rendering comparison:
  12. Here is the drawing showing the future tower phase would be built over the north section of the parking ramp, independent of the office building that would line Oakes. (north is pointing to the right in the drawing)
  13. Probably a stupid question, but how many people can reasonably fit in Calder Plaza?
  14. Hey now, some people paid a lot of money to have the luxury of FEMA tent accommodations.
  15. Salt Lake City HAD an example of a successful outdoor mall with apartments, condos, offices called the Gateway. It HAD all the trendy stores like Apple, plenty of restaurants, a movie theatre with an IMAX, underground parking garages, etc. It was great, the misses and I were living in Ogden about 45 minutes north, and there was a high speed train that I could take for $4.50 down to SLC with a station that was a block and a half from the Gateway. My wife worked in SLC so I'd take the train down and meet her on Friday nights for a nice date night. Then the dominant church out there built a new mall literally two blocks from the Gateway and vultured all those trendy stores and pretty much left the Gateway an empty shell. The Rivertown people should take a look at the Gateway model (before being vultured) because it has been done successfully in the past, and Woodland won't ever be two blocks away. Utah's winters might be a bit more mild than GR's, but it certainly got cold and snowy at times and that place always seemed to be busy. Looking at the Gateway's website, I see they do now have a Dave N Busters. (http://shopthegateway.com/directory/)
  16. I can't remember seeing this posted anywhere, so here is the rendering for the Laker Line operations center going up on Freeman Ave.
  17. Drawings indicate office use on all the floors. And per this note I would assume the original facade will be getting a facelift. Also, looks like the interior finish is going to be all exposed brick.
  18. I just flipped back through 10 pages of topic threads and couldn't find any place to put this, so I'm putting it here. In a shocking twist, a Grand Rapids building is (potentially) getting TALLER! Not much, but still... 188 Monroe NW (the building with Bull's Head Tavern) is getting two floors added on, raising it to about the same height as the building next to it. Looks like the additional floors will be metal panel or EIFS siding, but before anybody complains know this, the new floors will also be set back from the original buildings facade on Monroe by about 12-15 feet, so it's not going to be really visible from street level. Not saying I like the look, just that it's going to be somewhat hidden.
  19. Yes, it is. They are continuing to do as much as they can, but one phase has been put on a complete hold from what I've been told.
  20. I believe this idea has been floated around on this topic before: https://fox17online.com/2018/10/24/proposal-would-allow-you-to-boat-from-lake-michigan-to-gr/
  21. Theater plan: Overall site plan: And a few renderings from the cover sheet of the drawings (sorry I never get color renderings):
  22. This is the best I could do, I'm standing about 1/3 of the way down the length of the wall. It's kinda hard to grasp the fact that the walls are 60' tall with as long as this building is.
  23. I thought they were covering the concrete blocks with an architectural metal panel.
