  1. So I grew up as a hockey fan and knew how hard and long it would take for the Preds to actually amount to a competitor in the NHL. And while it happened, it took many many years to accomplish. Is making the playoffs the first year in MLS a huge ordeal? Looks like they take a lot of teams for playoffs but NSC is doing quite well!
  2. I believe ya. Perf Studios ran into bad luck last year too. They moved from their awesome space off Thompson Lane to an old boxy building in Antioch. RIGHT before Halloween too. And it took them forever to get the proper permits to open. I needed a rental for a Con over Labor Day and they couldn't fulfill it. I went back before Christmas for misc holiday costume pieces and their inventory was nothing and their setup wasn't great. That being said, their rentals were pretty amazing. They had everything! I needed an old 70's suit for Ron Burgundy and they had an amazing selection. Same with Playboy smoking jackets. But I am sure it was a matter of time anyways. Even without a pandemic.
  3. ^^^ ok before I get beat up too badly. I do believe in the wearing of masks and the science behind all of it. Obviously this pandemic has turned very very political. Business are able to operate and survive using the mask rule and extra cleaning precautions. If a patron chooses not to wear a mask, turn them away! I understand that it must be hard to compete with the other Broadway businesses when they don’t enforce the rules. Those crazy undesirables will choose to go there. If I managed ACME I would have a call to arms. “We’re struggling! For those that love us, come downtown and enjoy a great meal and a cold drink. Just remember to bring your masks! We will have special musical guests... etc” But nope. It was a “we give up because no one is following the rules”. I truly hope they make it. Don’t want to see anyone go down for this. But id take a different approach. Just my two cents I guess.
  4. Look at Performance Studios. I would go there for Halloween costumes or items for the kids when they had elementary school plays. They refused to re-open because they deemed it was unsafe for their employees. Ok. That's their choice. As we speak their entire inventory is being auctioned off. They will now just be selling their makeup brands online. They took a rigid stance and they're closing shop. Without getting into the clear political overtones... one thing that stood out as funny was how this person is criticizing the "drunk crowds" and how the "demographics of your average Broadway visitor has shifted". Come on. I've been down there way before COVID was a thing and I can for sure say that the typical Broadway crowd was never really that desirable. Drunk rednecks, drunk girls, homeless yelling and demanding money... Like that has changed? Or is this person saying that he percentage of "these types" went from 92% to 95%? I like ACME's hot chicken sandwich. I hope to get it again. But if they end up closing for good in a temper tantrum, well. Good bye! I am sure a country singer will buy that building and slap their name on the front. "Kenny's Korner" has a good ring to it.
  5. I wouldn't expect massive towers either. Tech companies like flat/wide collaboration spaces. But their presence alone could spark tall-boys for living.
  6. Well, if you can impeach a president for lying about having sex or allegedly reaching out to another country for dirt that was in emails anyways... I guess anything is possible.
  7. These idiots would take it to the Supreme Court if they could. And that lawyer will be happy to take every single one of their pennies.
  8. The one in downtown Chicago near the Miracle Mile is beautiful. Would have been nice to see something like that here.
  9. I am not sure where they would build this in WillCo close to an interstate. I suppose the Berry Farms area? The area along 840 east of I65 is quite hilly until you get to Rutherford Co. Even then it's "way out there" and hopefully it doesn't feel like the racetrack being so isolated.
  10. For those that have been downtown taking pictures or working: Is everyone wearing a mask outside? It has been over 8 months since I have been downtown and thought about finding a parking spot and walking around, taking pics and having lunch somewhere. I know people are being asked to wear masks around Broadway but was curious about how it is on KVB and the business core. Thanks!
  11. I REALLY miss working downtown. The drive totally sucked, but I enjoyed walking around, people-watching and having lunches down there. It will be a bit before any of that returns.
  12. According to my season ticket rep, they will be able to take the season ticket holders and disperse them throughout the stadium "safely". This, of course, assuming the mayor allows it to happen. He already agreed to a similar configuration for the Titans, so NSC is optimistic.
  13. I mean, he has a point. Have you seen the baseball games the last few days? NO ONE is in the stadium watching these ingrates. (I'm joking, btw)
  14. I was watching MLS last night and they were showing the plans for Columbus new stadium. It looks so much like ours! For a minute I thought it was.
  15. Curious as to why Knoxville, with its proximity to I-75, didn't explode. When I see all the growth and development along I40 & 840 with the distribution centers and warehouses... Knoxville would be perfect for that. Maybe it's too close to Atlanta? Maybe the landscape is too "hilly" for real industrial growth?
  16. 100% agree. If you don't like it, don't go down there. When I worked downtown I would walk during lunch and would see all types of people. Young party-goers, families, visitin fans, seniors who are there for the history of country music... its an incredible melting pot. And it's a huge reason why Nashville is growing strong like it is now. Personally, I don't go downtown much now. Definitely not for partying or drinking. But those that do absolutely have a great time. And people from out of state I talk to comment on how much fun Nashville is.
  17. Agreed. I wish something could be done with the large surface lot behind the Baptist Church. And also the Preds doing a little better of a job on that parking structure.
  18. From what I've read, China will be distributing vaccines out in the next few months. So, assuming we have transparency from them (we won't) it will be interesting to see how that plays out. As much as this kills me to say out loud, I just don't see how there will be ANYTHING happening until Jan/Feb when vaccinations are readily available in the US. On-site school, ANY sports, large events (concerts, conventions), workers returning to offices, life without masks... let's just rip off the band-aid and accept more of "today" for the next 5 months. Write off 2020 now.
  19. I don't mind getting the vaccine. I am just nervous about being one of the first ones since these are being rushed through. Unless, of course, some kind of mutation happens that guarantees me some kind of super-hero powers.
