Ok, the last two days I've spent considerable time walking around downtown and noticed daily happenings downtown in a push to get the "lesser" areas spruced up before SBXL. I'm in East Lansing today, so I was just curious if anyone noticed anything new or unexpected happening?

I can't say I've heard of anything. I haven't been downtown yet today...but I will be going several times for Auto Show-related stuff over the next few days.

I laugh at everyone who parks in these lots. I park in ramps and I've never paid a dime for parking since I've turned 21. I go into the Casions and validate.

Commute to the Greektown parking structure LMich. The city recently spent lots of money to get it all fixed up nice, only to have it torn down for the new Casino ramp, lol!

Nice! BTW, does anyone know the name and history of that building to the right? I really don't know much about the far-west end of downtown.

Oh, I can see that...the "windows"in the middle of the building slope downward. In that picture it really does look like a building...maybe office or hotel...

Was it some sort of conversion or was the structure really made to look that bad?

I'm fairly certain it was built like that. The paint kind of hides its original look. I've only been in it once during the All Star Game... I think that was when it was. Anyway, the interior structure was built sloped. It didn't look like it was done like that later.

I just discovered, after a few months of down time that the city has revamped it's assessor site, which many use for different purposes. It's much more user-friendly, finally getting around to the layout that most Michigan cities have been using for a few years now. At the moment it's pretty sparse though, pretty much all that it's useful for currently is finding and address and an owner. Hopefully, it will have years of completion, photos, and sketches up for it's at least it's downtown properties over the next year. It's going to be quite an undertaking/

I didnt really know where to post this, so I just decided to throw it in here.

Tonight I walked around downtown for a good hour or so, as crews were working well into the night getting the storefronts and facades completed in time for the big day. While peering in the Whitney Building, which I believe someone said would be used by ESPN (I think), it was pretty clear that there is no way this place will be ready. Does anyone have the details of where the media outlets will be hosting their broadcasts, etc.? Also, there were 3 windows lit up in the Whitney, up on floor #7. I confirmed this with a picture. Is the entire building powerd up again? Do they plan to light it during that week?

I've always noticed random lights on in the building as far back as I can remember (years). It probably doesn't mean anything, unless you saw something like an entire floor (or part) with their lights on.
