Since moving out of South End a month ago, here's the shot I see every morning in Dilworth.  Well, actually not much of one and nothing like Mid South NC's shot.  When the trees bloom, it will be even less.

Mountain Island Lake today with boaters.  Charlotte is blessed with 3 major lakes touching the core metro county of Mecklenburg.

I think this needs to be advertised more! Not many other inland cities in the US have so many lakes and water-based recreational areas/waterfront homes. It's one of Charlotte's most attractive features imo.

I just wish we had more public locations for swimming and sunbathing along the lakes that didn't require owning a boat to launch. Lake Norman is so so big, yet only two public swimming locations that get slammed in the summer. Mountain Island Lake... 0. Lake Wylie, 1. In many ways it makes the lakes most accessible for the mass affluent.

That's a good point. Norman is honestly huge, I brought this up in another thread but I've been wondering if it's one of the largest lake communities in the US. Having only two swimming areas is silly, I've been to much smaller lakes (which also are mostly waterfront homes) that still have more.

The city was hopping Southend and the Gold District was packed this afternoon.  Even Charlotte FC fans over in the Southpark area in hotels and restaurants.

Our super long skyline and I need a wide lens.   Uptown shots show from the Arlington to the Ellis and UNCC uptown.  As the British say "Mind the gap" and we will soon fill it it in bigly.

I'm happy to hear all these reports of how bustling the urban core has been lately. I'm thinking some of the lingering COVID effects are fading away. I was in central Raleigh today and it was full of energy, tons of people walking everywhere.

Southpark has the most comprehensive view of the skyline. IMO. You get all that nice mid to lowrise density to the east with few gaps. Great shot. Similar to Richmond approaching from the south.

That said, I'm curious to see how the office climate uptown changes over the next several years.  If the trend plays out with businesses from deep pocketed industries (banking, tech, etc) moving to these newer, amenities-rich buildings, I wonder if we eventually see older uptown space fill in with smaller or more tight-walleted businesses.  That would imply a downward trend in rental rates, but not necessarily a doomsday situation.  Maybe some silver linings there, too.  I'm a layman in these matters, though.

If we know anything about the Charlotte market it's that it always surprises! I personally think once the new Library, Intercontinental Hotel and the Carolina Theater are all open for business, it will jumpstart N.Tryon. lord knows it is needed. 

   I agree with you that SE will at least in the short-term be the Hotspot.  Charlotte is maturing in so many ways.

  I am old enough to remember Uptown literally being a ghost town from 5pm Friday until Monday mornings. I guess I'll always root for it to always be on top. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled that SE is becoming what it's becoming.  Uptown will survive, SE will continue to bridge the gap and we will be a better city because of it.

Found this in a Charlotte Facebook group and had to share. I don't recommend joining that group because all they do is go on and on about how much better Charlotte used to be and how it sucks now. Anyway this is how the intersection looked back in 1914 and today.

I know the group you speak of. They booted me about 30mins after I started a discussion about the history of  Gay nightlife in Charlotte. So yes they definitely seem to prefer Charlotte circa bigots and racists.  My 2 cents
