Triangle Innovation Point Megasite Chatham County
DownEast replied to KJHburg's topic in The NC Triangle
Reading the article doesn't lend much confidence to their future here. I'd love for this to work out but I think they ultimately focus on improving quality back home vs. this production blitz plan. Just hoping this smaller footprint remains larger than my own a month from now. -

Queensbridge Collective - 1 tower, maybe 2

Wilmington's downtown street grid alone is proof of it's size during that time. By far the largest intact grid in the state. Amazing potential. -
Charlotte area population statistics
DownEast replied to krazeeboi's topic in Charlotte Coffee House
The Myrtle Beach CSA was Horry, Brunswick and Georgetown counties before NC regained Brunswick. The MSA was just Horry and Brunswick. So now the CSA is Horry and Georgetown and the MSA is only Horry. The numbers match up as such. The CSA goes back to at least the 1990 census.- 1,542 replies

It seems by trying to manufacture a downtown out of thin air overtop of the already wildly popular South End might make things even more confusing? With Downtown/Uptown being interchangeable for all these years and to move the DT moniker onto such a small piece of real estate outside the loop, perhaps it's time to drop this folksy Uptown business once and for all. I love Charlotte and I'm aware of the history but honestly... How many precious minutes of life have we lost having to explain the whole "Uptown is Downtown" thing. Let Shelby carry the torch. We got bigger fish to fry and maybe, in time, a more traditional style uptown will develop in the future.

Classic angle right there. Center on Trade and elevate about 100'. Growing up 4 hours from Charlotte, I relied on magazines and encyclopedias(lol) for pictures before the internet. Especially the annual CVB brochures. Until alas, I discovered a site called skylines.com with mainly single photos of skylines across the country. Then on to 'Page and 'City. Believe it or not for those who don't know, Charlotte and Calgary generated the bulk of content and discussion on 'page ~2004. Nashville too, actually. This here was a favorite angle from 88-93 from the brochures. Solid memory.

I'd say pretty unlikely with Concord close by and Hickory struggling to maintain service over the years. General Aviation has been booming though with some race teams and I think Lowes has their planes based there.

"Philidelphia." IQ certainly leans racist or at the very least prepubescent. Maybe a short intelligence quiz to sign up for the site might keep these Joe the Dumber types over on CityData.

Richmond's BRT has been very successful. One line going down Broad St from downtown through some historically dense hoods. It has spurred a decent amount of TOD as well. Damn. Beat me to it.

110 East: 23 story Tower by Stiles/Shorenstein

Isn't the exposed part of the deck to be covered up by the second phase or has that been scrapped? -
Eh. it's an interchange. probably more benign than anything on campus, really. There's a freeway portion named after Jordan in Chicago. Steph is all class and a native. What if whatever...?

^I literally cannot fathom a Florida/U st/Florida freeway crashing into Kalorama. Independence and Constitution... jeez. Neat map.

Wow. What a shame if the Wood Ducks were to leave Kinston. Grainger Stadium is almost 90 years old and a gem of a minor league ballbark. I used to watch the Kinston Indians play there as a kid. And at a time when downtown has been on the upswing. Let 'em have the Mudcats.

^^ lol. I do the same thing. No matter what time of day, there is never a traffic jam in Greensboro.
