Boiling Springs - a nice place to visit on the weekend, but I don't think I could be paid to live in much of that area.  Inman on the other hand...amazing small, growing town.

My wife shops at Target a good bit and we live on the east side.  I have said for years that redeveloping the Pinewood Shopping center (Wades) with a Target as an anchor should be a success. Especially as a mixed use development attracting folks from the eastside/Drayton/Berkley as well as Boiling Springs. No clear cutting (already done) and not adding to the nightmare traffic and ugly Boiling Springs out of control sprawl.

Target and QT (and possibily others) well underway at the corner of SC-9 and Old Furnace Road.  Also lots of new construction happening about a mile north of there at the corner of SC-9 and Bible Church adjacent to the new Publix.

So I was looking at the land-use report in the March County Council agenda, and saw a listing for 1196 units at 300 Rainbow Lake Road next to the new Libertas Academy charter school they're building.  I thought that must be a typo.  But no, instead it's a bombshell.  A massive mixed-use town center development called "Essentia" is planned.  It would have townhomes, apartments and senior living, as well as 79,000 SF of retail, green space and a trail connection to Va-Du-Mar McMillan Park.  Site plan below (it's rotated 90-degrees, so North is to the right and Rainbow Lake Rd is at the top).

Wow, great find! Public charter school is also a part of it.
