I think you've lost that battle. Even the USGS refers to it as Lawsons Fork Creek. Although all of the road signs read "Lawson Fork Creek" with no 's' at the end of Lawson (just to confuse everyone, I assume).

Show me where on the plans they're turning this into a pedestrian mall with no car access....

That's just false. Sorry that your business is in an area where people want to walk and bike. I hope you understand afterwards that this makes it safer for customers to actually go to your business without needing an expensive car.

As far as I can see, there is some light earthwork being done in the area of the now-demolished section of the county office building and some dirt work going on across the street. Also, it seems like they're in the process of gutting what's left of the old county building because piles of debris are appearing outside the doors.

2023 is currently pacing about 97.6% of the 2019 peak through August.

Work began this week on the project to widen the sidewalk along Heywood Avenue to connect the River Birch Trail to Beverly Road (and thus the Lower Drayton Mills Trail). Seems like it's going to be a pretty quick project since they're already pouring concrete for the section closest to Beverly Road.
