  1. I think you've lost that battle. Even the USGS refers to it as Lawsons Fork Creek. Although all of the road signs read "Lawson Fork Creek" with no 's' at the end of Lawson (just to confuse everyone, I assume).
  2. Show me where on the plans they're turning this into a pedestrian mall with no car access....
  3. That's just false. Sorry that your business is in an area where people want to walk and bike. I hope you understand afterwards that this makes it safer for customers to actually go to your business without needing an expensive car.
  4. Vanity project? Study after study shows projects like these increase traffic to local businesses.
  5. They're using the new entrance road already as shown in this graphic:
  6. As far as I can see, there is some light earthwork being done in the area of the now-demolished section of the county office building and some dirt work going on across the street. Also, it seems like they're in the process of gutting what's left of the old county building because piles of debris are appearing outside the doors.
  7. 2023 is currently pacing about 97.6% of the 2019 peak through August.
  8. Work began this week on the project to widen the sidewalk along Heywood Avenue to connect the River Birch Trail to Beverly Road (and thus the Lower Drayton Mills Trail). Seems like it's going to be a pretty quick project since they're already pouring concrete for the section closest to Beverly Road.
  9. Not a map but during the meeting Chris Story described it as being bounded by Pine Street to the east, Daniel Morgan Avenue to the north, Henry Street to the south, and the train tracks to the west.
  10. Just 667 more passengers than AVL.
  11. Isn't a bank currently building its headquarters in the form of an office building (with attached bank)? Or are they not counting office buildings built by and for the tenant?
  12. The license plate reader/QR code did not work for me as well this week (with Economy Lot 2) but I just hit the call button, told them my name, and they let me in and out of the lot.
  13. Just did the same and the price was exactly as advertised. Round trip, $29 each way, final price was $58 after taxes and fees. Sounds like you chose a few "extras" like...seats or bags (you can skip all).
  14. That is an absolute unit of a retaining wall.
  15. Looks like it's flying to Charlottesville as a charter and the Virginia women's basketball team just played at Clemson tonight. I'd say that's your mystery answer
  16. Based on what I can tell with their flight numbers and the locations, the 64XX flight numbers are when they're positioning planes for charters. Then the actual charters fly with 63XX flight numbers. For instance, the plane that landed at GSP was used by the University of Virginia's basketball team to fly from Charlottesville to Bedford, MA for their game against Boston College yesterday (educated guess). The plane then returned to Charlottesville with the 63XX flight number and then when they moved it back to Norfolk, VA (which is one of their actual airports and likely where they base that plane) they used the 64XX flight number. I'm guessing someone has chartered that plane to fly out of GSP tomorrow and you'll see it leave with a 63XX flight number. (They use the same number schemes to fly the University of Nebraska basketball team, for instance https://flightaware.com/live/flight/MXY6310/history/20230215/0430Z/KEWR/KLNK - this is the flight when they returned to Lincoln from playing Rutgers) Sorry, I may have ruined the fun.
  17. Was picking up pizza at Pi Squared this weekend and they already have a large sign up on the side of the building (next to the ones for Holliday and Pi-Squared) but I didn't see one up at any of the doors yet.
  18. Honestly, could be a big regional draw for the area since there's nothing quite like it anywhere close. What else would they do with the theater? It's not really going to be able to compete with the Peace Center being so close.
  19. I can't imagine a scenario where widening E. Main Street would EVER be a good idea. People just need to move on from "widen this." All it does is induce MORE demand. So instead of having a busy 4 lane road (with turn lanes), you have a busy 6 lane road (with turn lanes). The only option is to find alternative ways to alleviate traffic. Whether that includes new roads elsewhere or public transit or walking/biking infrastructure, that's up to figuring out exactly who is on the road and where they are going and for what purpose to find the best option.
  20. Stair towers are up and framing has begun on the Lively Drayton Mills.
  21. I've heard rumors of a Hobby Lobby but I cannot remember where I heard it.
  22. GSP will have a "significant air service announcement" tomorrow. News conference at 11:00am.
  23. Doesn't look like it's anything good, at least for now, according to the Voluntary Cleanup Contract: "D. Proposed Redevelopment: UCB plans to acquire the Property and develop it as surface parking for its new corporate headquarters office and a retail branch planned for construction on an adjacent property." ...so...they're going to turn the parking lot into...a parking lot that they own!
