Baton Rouge Photo of the Day

Haha, no problem man. And yea, just check out the Lagniappe thread to see what we've been talking about to get us that many posts. ;)

And hey, 9th place is a nice spot! You have enough time to spend and contribute to the forum, but you also have a life, unlike me and Brian! ;)

Hey, speak for yourself...

I have a life, sometimes. Although had I not spent most of my day at Best Buy and shopping with my wife at other stores, I would have been here posting.

Hey, I said "sometimes."

I know, I know. UP is pretty addictive though. I'm pretty sure I remember reading something about certain employers somewhere, probably in Charlotte, blocking UP at their offices, because so many of their employees were spending too much time on it at their jobs.

In the next few year Baton Rouge will defianitly be an important shopping destination (at least regionally) with all these shopping centers going up. I wonder how many people come from around the the area and take little day trips just to shop?

Thanks Byrde for posting the Sheraton. That's it...Downtown's newest hotel built in the 90's. What's your opinion Byrde on the Sheraton? IMO there should be better nightime lighting to be able too see it from the I-10 bridge. I also wish it would have been 5 to 8 stories taller too. The Atrium is a nice venue for Boxing matches.

I wish it had better lighting. When you come across the bridge, you really have no idea what the building is if you see it during the day. A row of lights around the top of it would be nice. Something to draw attention to it, you know like the casino hotels in Vegas. I mean, it is a part of a casino complex.

That's very nice... and looks like 10 stories!?

Yes it's 10 stories. You really need to see the atrium. They took an old warehouse district, Catfish Town, and put a glass roof over it. I'll have to get some shots of it in the coming weeks and post them.

Catfish Town. :D Interesting name.

But it does sound awesome... more like something you'd see in New Orleans. Please do take some photos when you get a chance. I'd be very interested in seeing that. It must look like they brought the outdoors indoors, because that's exactly what it sounds like!

That's a nice shot there Byrde. An interesting view BELOW street level. I really like the variety with old & new; the Old State Capitol next to the planetarium, with the Shaw Arts Center barely visible. And the Hilton Capitol House is no longer that horrible eye-sore anymore !

When it is not blistering hot outside, you will find people hanging out down on the steps enjoying the river. It's a nice spot to watch the sunset.

I imagine that's great during high-tide when the river is up near the steps, especially during the spring or fall when the temperatures are nice.
