Construction underway.... Here's what's under construction for $25M on Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge The Nursing and Allied Health Building at Baton Rouge Community College is taking shape. The building is set to open in August 2025. It will bring together BRCC's School of Nursing and Division of Allied Health, housing a number of programs including nursing, surgical technician, medical laboratory technician and medical assistant. A partnership between BRCC and Our Lady of the Lake Health will allow the college to add high-demand medical programs such as respiratory care, physical and occupational therapy. The 92,800-square-foot building will cost $25 million to build; The Lake is investing $12 million. This will be the first building added to the BRCC Mid City campus since 2009. Chasm Architecture and Mackey Mitchell designed the building. Ratcliff Construction Co. is the general contractor

  18. Part of Nicholson Drive to play key role in plans to transform Baton Rouge into entertainment destination BATON ROUGE - While it may not seem like it now, the stretch of Nicholson Drive from LSU to downtown could soon become an entertainment destination. "Last year, community leaders came together to work on a joint music entertainment study to really connect a series of assets in our community that if put together could create enormous opportunity," said Baton Rouge Area Foundation President Chris Meyer. Those assets include LSU and its proposed arena, the River Center and downtown, then on to Memorial Stadium. The thing that quite literally connects them is Nicholson Drive. "We see these opportunities to connect all these different projects which really can be transformative for the community. Let's connect them purposefully. Let's make sure they're complementary and they tie together so that we elevate quality of life for all of our residents and attract visitors to Baton Rouge." Last year, Commercial Properties Realty Trust purchased about 40 acres of rundown land on Nicholson Drive with hopes to eventually transform it into something more welcoming to visitors. "This is the front door of Baton Rouge. Visitors who come here for a game day experience, a future concert or a convention—this really can be the boulevard to connect into the university." Depending on the results of a study that should be completed this spring, some big changes could be coming when traveling down the road. "Hopefully, you're not driving from LSU to downtown. Hopefully there's an opportunity to walk or to take a new streetcar line. To really enjoy and stop along the way at new cafes, new food courts, new business opportunities that would be spurring there." A project price estimate likely won't be available until after the study is completed, however BRAF says it will be a public-private partnership. https://www.wbrz.com/news/part-of-nicholson-drive-to-play-key-role-in-plans-to-transform-baton-rouge-into-entertainment-destination

  20. Found this Map of BR's 2 Fault Line's .......not sure of the exact accuracy ; Was not aware of the Northern one But the Southern one is well known and highly visible on the College Drive "Hill" a couple blocks North of I-10; also cut across the old Woodlawn middle school in SE BR Tiger Bend Rd/ Jones Creek Rd ; cracks in the foundation (in the gym) began to compromising the structure ; then prompting them to move the School to a new location next door; but they prolly should have moved it to a completely different area instead; because now the school is beginning to have cracks in the pluming/sewage system There is a BREC Park walking trail at the old school location
  21. What we know about the planned Livingston Parish airport https://www.businessreport.com/featured/what-we-know-about-the-planned-livingston-parish-airport South of I-12 near Satsuma quote: The Livingston Parish airport plans are progressing, with groundbreaking tentatively scheduled for April. “We’re about to go out and get bids for clearing the area and dirt work,” says Delia Taylor, chair of the Livingston Parish Airport District, a volunteer board created in 2016. She says the dirt work will begin this month. The original plan was for a larger-scale project but that idea proved too costly. The current plan involves a phased approach. Phase one includes a 4,200-foot runway. Taylor says the final product will have a 5,000-foot runway with a larger apron and a full parallel taxiway. “We have to take it from a phased approach,” Taylor says. “It is the most economical approach to deal with.” Taylor says the plan is to complete all groundwork before the end of the year and begin work on the runway before the end of the fiscal year. “We’re very optimistic,” Taylor says. “It has been a very long process. We’ve gone through the process meticulously. We feel good about where we’re heading.” Earlier estimates put the phase one cost between $13 million and $15 million. As of Monday, the district has invested $10 million in the project, Taylor says. She declines to give an updated estimate because she says the “numbers keep changing.”
