City View Phase 3 (Under Construction)

Looks like the developers have rewritten their website but still no dedicated website for CityView. Looks like Constitution Drive Extended will be a reality for the 2nd phase to connect to TC.

They should build an enclosed moving walkway going to TC, like they have at the airport. Would be too costly, but cool!

There is a crane on site now much like the crane used to put the Westin parking garage together. I'm assuming this means we'll finally see this first phase start rising from the ground (seems like it took them forever to get to this point).

Finally some real progress!

And on a kind of related note, I am not sure if this (the old Days Inn site on Bonney) is a staging area for TC (maybe Westin facade) or CityView but it was really strange to see a Ford Explorer having been turned on it's side!

Wow, that wasn't like that a few days ago. Those precast garages go up pretty quick.

are they hiding the parking garage behind the precast concrete? If so, then I LOVE this development. I hate exposed garages.

Yep, this is phase one.

They are picking up speed for sure. Not sure though what I think about how the parking garage looks facing Bonney. Maybe facade will soften up things a bit.

this project will basically turn Bonney road into that edge of downtown. I have to agree I think that was in some aspects a bad idea designing the Bonney road side like that, but I really can't say for sure. That is something tha only time can really predict. Nonetheless, I love seeing a real downtown actually happening for my hometown, just wish this had happened while I was growing up there. Would of been nice to be able to experience it happening.

But then again, without a downtown in VB caused me to fall in love with Norfolk's downtown, so what can ya do.

Make sure it's noted, in the budget for Va Beach, they've allocatd $5.6 million for the extending of Constitution Dr

wow scratch this comment, I was thinking this one was the old HQ site, my bad. But Bonney would still be more or less the edge of the urban downtown. Shame I never bought into those condos that are between the town center and city view. They were just out of my budget at the time, but if I would of bought one then, I would probably be sitting on a nice little gold mine now. Shame to think about, but oh well.

It is good to see this project finally rolling.

Now we can only hope that within two years you won't be able to see CityView from that vantage point, and that instead, you will have to go up another tower to do so

Staging Area

I was getting worried about this, but judging from the scaffolding they're putting up it does seem like they are going to make some attempt to mask the garage.

Believe it or not, there have never been any clear renderings for phase 1. All the renderings that have been released are for phase 2. I'm sure they exist, they were just never publicly released. So basically, I don't know. I was under the impression though that the first phase was just residential.
