Ahh that's the mall that everyone says is the nicest mall in DFW, though I've never been to it. Very cool. What restaurants did you eat at while in Dallas?

It was alright. I thought it had too many women's clothes stores. They didn't even have a book store. The only restaurant I went to was the one in the hotel. I was in a youth camp, so I didn't have enough time to go out and eat. While I'm speaking of the Hyatt, I want to say that it was fun because it had an 18 story atrium and 10 floors above that; so I liked to ride up and down the elevators. The prices where ridiculous because water was $3, a muffin $2.50, and a candy bar $1.85 .

While I was in a museum I saw a brochure for the Horseshoe Casino Hotel in Bossier City. I try to scan it. That must be a popular place to be advertised wayed out there.

Sounds like a really nice hotel... Hyatt is a brand you can count on.

I didn't realize you were with a youth camp, I assumed it was just you and your family.

All of our casino resorts advertise heavily in the Dallas market. The advertising has scaled back a bit, though, because I used to see billboards all over Dallas for our casinos. But yeah, Horseshoe is the most visited casino by Texas (particularly Dallas) tourists in SBC.

Welcome back Dan. :good: Glad you enjoyed yourself. I bet riding those elevators up and down the atrium was fun. If you take a trip to H-Town, you may reconsider your Skyline rankings. I know how it is though when leaving a BIG CITY . We always tend to walk away very impressed. Kind like when Nate came thru Atlanta. He came away so impressed he vaulted them up the skyline rankings.

I bet you can't wait for school tommorrow ?

You did not miss much in the BR Thread. Both you and Byrde were outta town so it was really slow. I got a little lazy while yall were gone. But wait... :stop: I'm going to be posting more pics soon on BR Profile, Growth & Development, Future Construction Sites, etc.

I was thankful and impressed in the consistency with Nate and Brian replying to my Pic of the Day. If not for them it would have been depressing.

Actually, I saw the Houston skyline on the way back to Baton Rouge. We had to go from Dallas to Houston then to B.R. All the buildings looked greyish-blue because I was far away, but it was still impressive.

I have stayed there. On the 22nd floor. It's a VERY nice facility, and no one even gets into the elevators without a room pass. Above and beyond, to access the 26th floor you have to have a completely different kind of room pass and must be a "high roller." The entire 26th floor is comprised of 12 ultra-suites, each of which was designed to resemble - both in appointments and size - a luxury home.

Thanks for posting that, Dan! :D

Here are a couple photos I took a few nights ago around sunset:

Horseshoe Hotel from the 5th floor of the Horseshoe parking garage:

A little trivia that I bet none of you knew: Jack Binion, the creator of the Horseshoe and son of legendary casino owner Benny Binion, came up with the basic concept for this hotel on his own. Over a meeting with casino officials, Binion actually sketched out the facade of the building on a napkin, straight from his very creative mind. How about that!! :)

Wow, that is a cool piece of information. He must be proud of that building, seeing as how simply it all began.

Here's something interesting that's related. This is one of the original renderings of the Horseshoe Hotel. I remember when this particular rendering ran in The Times back in '96 I believe. The design changed only slightly as you can tell. The most visible differences are that the middle section got wider for the finished product, and the arch at the top of the white detailing in the middle section was dropped. Other than that, the finished product looks so similar to this rendering. This same rendering was all over The Times back in the late 90s, in full-page ads. I even used to have 1 or 2 that I'd saved but have no clue what's happened to them over the years.

Here's that rendering. And notice that it's even drawn to appear as if it's sunset, like in my photos. :D

Sorry guys, but since we were talking about the Horseshoe...

Evander Holyfield was there today training on the boxing ring inside the Horseshoe Riverdome, for an upcoming fight in Dallas in a few days. I should have called in sick today so I could go down and get some pictures and see him in person. :D

Okay since everyone suddenly wants to post less now, it's time to pull out the peer pressure. You know you want to post......everyone's doing it......especially all the cool people. Seriously, if people have things to do then cut back. But I don't see why anyone should cut back because they suddenly notice, oh my God I'm in the top 20 or top 10 now. If you enjot posting then what's the big deal? :D
