The only Richmond I can think of outside of VA off the top of my head is in California.

The other Richmond is in British Columbia, basically within Vancouver, B.C. In fact, their airport is also called "Richmond International Airport." Now that's frustrating.

The CAA finals, matching VCU and ODU, will air tonight from The Richmond Coliseum on ESPN at 7PM.

There is a whole bunch of ESPN's, but this one has no initials or numbers following it -- just plain old ESPNHD. It's Channel 70 on Verizon Fios here in NYCity.

GO RAMS!

The final score was 70 ODU to 65 VCU, but there was a time early on when ODU was leading by 20 points or more. Watching The Rams was like looking at two different teams -- inept in the first half, and survival oriented in the second.

The rickety old Coliseum attracted a record 46,544 during the 4-day CAA Tournament, and last night even the nose-bleed seats were full.

There was a jolt of de ja vu when early on the game had to stop to allow personnel of all stripes to mop up the floor. It brought back memories of a sold-out game some years ago that had to be called because the basketball court was "floating" and shifting atop melting hockey ice.

From today's RTD with accompanying stories (including Michael Paul Williams' piece about the venue:)

I think 540-804 might especially appreciate this news and the accompanying video:

Luck Stone Corp steps us as sponsor for the XTERRA Regional Championship games this summer and, hopefully, for future games as well.

In fact, their sponsorship may reinforce Richmond's bid for the UCI World Road Cycling Championship meet in 2015.

But wait!!!

Although I don't understand the workings of NCAA, brackets and that sort of thing, The University of Richmond appears to be a contestant in the NCAA Tournament.

Could the City of Richmond have two teams playing with the big boys?

See posting below in next frame.

Tru TV (which used to be CourtTV) is generally where one goes to see repo episodes and other shows geared to violence. I like to tune in from time to time and watch "Forensic Files" at 11PM.

.But tonight at 9:10PM I'll click on Tru to watch the NCAA matchup in Dayton between VCU and Southern California.

I can't find information on RTD's online page for U of R's game time tomorrow (Thursday) in Denver when the Spiders go up against Vanderbilt.

It was a very close game, but UR wins over Vanderbilt in Denver. Final score -- Richmond 69, Vanderbilt 66. :yahoo:

The Spiders will go up against Morehead on Saturday.

I have to ask -- is there something wrong with the Richmond Times Dispatch or do they not care that both VCU and The U of Richmond have both won first rounds in the NCAA?

I posted news of UR's win over Vanderbilt within seconds but, as as of this hour (12:30AM on Friday, March 18th) it is still not reported on line at the RTD.

Here's the latest RTD blog report at 12:30AM on 3/18/11:

In an hour or two, the RTD may update. But know that you read about UR's victory here first.

George Mason takes it from Villanova -- 61 to 57. A VERY dramatic win for GMU in the final seconds.:yahoo:

The RTD was slow on reporting UR's win, but they were on top of it today as Mason came from waaaay behind to win in Cleveland.

From RTD Breaking news (but remember, you read it here first  ):
