Citizen M Hotel (10 stories/139', 268 rooms) at 109 12th Ave. South

Citizen M Hotel will be 10 stories/139' with 268 rooms at 109 12th Ave. South (currently a surface lot just east of Adele's Restaurant).  It will include a 7,200 sq. ft. lobby with a bar, bakery, dining space, and lounge areas. There will also be  5,600 sq. ft. of outdoor amenities including a rooftop pool, bar and terrace. There is no parking garage involved.

C.B. Ragland Company is the developer.  They purchased the .29 acre lot in 2021 for $4 million. Baskerville is in charge of architecture; Civil Site Design Group will oversee engineering. 

Construction is anticipated to take 20 months. No word on a groundbreaking date.

Looking at the proposed room footprints, rooms will be LESS than 8 foot wide.  Not enough to swing a dead cat IMO.  I guess no kingsized beds huh?    They must be looking to supply lodging to a lower economic eschelon.  When will we see the sleeping pods arrive like Japanese have?

Uninspiring architecture, but solid land use - love the lack of parking and hyper-efficient room size.

Never heard of this brand, only 13 of their hotels currently open in the US. Definitely brings something different to the Gulch - think it could be a good change of pace. Some additional reading:

Great boutique brand addition for Nashville. Looks like they are only in a few US markets currently.

Will also be nice infill for that part of the Gulch. Love to see the increasing density!

Many European hotels offer on average much smaller rooms.  I'm good with it given smaller rooms often come with smaller rates AND the fact that when I travel, my hotel is simply needed for sleep.

I stayed at Citizen M in Manhattan last summer. The room was indeed quite small but it did have a king taking up the whole room width up against the window. I think they're trying to provide a boutique-y experience at a slightly lower cost in expensive markets.

I stayed there as well, it caught me off guard initially but it was one of the nicest and most comfortable I've stayed in.  Felt like I was in a bed fort lol but it was a really cool experience.  Nothing cheap about it.

This should be a good addition to town! My wife and I used to stay in the CitizenM in Southwark, London regularly when we wanted to stay over night in the city. Cozy yet fun and well designed 'smart' rooms with lots of automation, everything from the lighting to the blinds could be controlled with an iPad. Food and bar was always good and the decor was very hip.
