well, if you check your own prior comments from 2016, you yourself were one of those "airhead suckers" gloating at that illegal FISA warrant that was issued by Barack Christ to investigate Trump.  You think I forgot that?

But my comment was a general comment because Spenser was talking about other stuff, so I couldn't respond to him.  I was actually motivated to comment by "barker clown."

I've got liberal Kool Aid drinking friends pushing me memes of how ridiculous Trump is to think Biden will lock the US down- only 24 hrs before Michigan and Oregon get shut down with threat of jail time if you violate the 6-10 person max at a private gathering.

To a socialist, a centrist or anyone with a contrary viewpoint IS a fascist, whether it's now, fifty years ago, in the US, in Greece, in Germany, in Russia, or anywhere else in the world.  That's why you guys always blow a gasket when someone on FOX says something contrary to CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNBC, MSNBC, The View, or any other talk show on those networks.  And you've got the audacity to call me a fascist?

That's laughable.

Since when is a President (Obama in this case, according your uninformed rant) empowered to issue warrants?

Little civics lesson for you…. THE COURTS issue warrants at the behest of law enforcement. In this case, the FBI who do not check in with or seek approval from the President on everything they do.

So your accusation that a FISA warrant "....was issued by Barack (Obama)...." is about as false and absurd as the rest of the nonsense that comes out of typical rwnj's.

As for name-calling…. why do you think it's ok for you to call me a socialist when 1) you've never met me and know nothing about me and 2) you apparently don't even know what a socialist is? If you don't like being called a fascist (which is what I think all Trump supporters are) then don't engage in name calling to begin with.

That's laughable.

I realize that you all are embarrassed over how you were gullible enough to be taken in by this game-show host and real estate huckster con man, so rather than admit it, you double down and refuse to acknowledge that every time he opens his fat, obnoxious, uneducated and uncouth yap, it's a reflection on all of you Trumpsters. But the time has come to give it up. He's been thoroughly exposed as the chump he is and his supporters are as well.

Other than that, all I can say is…. you ought to learn how to focus.

Your ranting scattershot screeds seem to meander all over the place.

I remember you once said you immigrated here from another country... just wondering which one? While certain groups peddle misinformation & fear mongering (especially targeting those whose home countries have had instability), the US is far from Socialist.

Build broadband for all of Florida instead of unnecessary toll roads that will damage some of our most precious environmental corridors. Save lots of money.

I wish Florida did beverage bottle recycling return/refund. It would incentivize people to recycle their beverage containers. So much so that people would actually have an incentive to pick them up off the ground because they can get a cash refund. I remember growing up in Connecticut and we would save our soda bottles and cans and set them aside until we had a whole bunch of them. As a kid I was so excited to hear the cans and bottles crunch in the machine and see the amount of money go up on the little screen every time I put a bottle in. Me and my brothers would split the refund after we redeemed it at the customer service counter, and we'd each get a couple bucks spending cash. Ah, the simpler days.

We used to collect pop bottles when I was a kid. Walk down the side of the highway and pick them up. There weren't a lot of them because people tended to hold onto them for the deposit refund.

In the 80's when deposit bottles still existed around here, I always kept one 16 oz returnable Coke bottle between the two front seats of my car, so when I whipped into a convenience store for a cold Coke, I'd bring the bottle in and swap it out for a full one. Along with the price of he beverage, of course.

Starlink is coming to those same areas next year, and will offer broadband at absolutely no taxpayer expense. A much better option, and an awful article to ignore that. We also shouldn't continue to subsidize spawl. If there is no utilities in an area, instead of the government giving money to help you make a poor decision, the better option should be to encourage people to live where we already have infrastructure.

This is a common sense tax revenue generator I’ve called for for a while now. I support this.

"Hey Newman, let's take the mail truck full of 10 cent bottles to Michigan!"

Last time I travelled to the northeast where they had bottle deposits everywhere, we saved our bottles and then tried to return them all to get our deposits back at the end of the trip, and the machine wouldn't take like any of them back. I tried to inquire at the first store, and they said yeah, that happens all the time, if the label ain't perfect it won't work, thats why we keep a trash can next to the machine. So I figured I'd try one more place... and they told me apparently the labels keep track of where it was purchased and you have to return it to the same location/region you purchased it in... all my collected bottles I paid deposits on had to go in the trash and deposits lost.

That must be a new thing because I never had that problem when I lived in Connecticut.

If memory serves me right, it was in Connecticut where I had the problems returning them. To be fair, I did travel to a number of states as part of that vacation and I don't remember if I bought the bottles in that state or another state with a deposit. I didn't think to keep track of where I was buying stuff. Also I wasn't aware the bottle had to be returned entirely undamaged to get your deposit back either which contributed to my problems. I just remember I was entirely shocked at how strict it was to get your deposit back, I figured they'd give you money per bottle no matter what... I assume they want to make sure the same department that your deposit was given to is the one returning it...

Oh okay. I would venture to guess that the barcode on the bottle merely indicates which state it was bought in, not which exact store it was. I think it's actually illegal to return bottles for deposit not from the state you bought it in, which might be why that happened.

Its possible. I remember the machine was also checking shapes of the bottles and some of mine were bent so not acceptable. I just remember thinking I'm glad we don't have this crap in Florida.

There they go again. It’s stunning the lengths the Republican toadies in Tallahassee will go to in order to make sure the people have no voice in governance.

The number of important items we’ve had to go to the ballot for because Tallahassee Republicans couldn’t grift off them would be shocking if it weren’t business as usual:

I had never heard of that commission, but it appears they're the ones who bundle unrelated things together in ballot measures? Am I reading that right? If so, I think everything should be on the ballot separately.

This story shows how we’re continuing to funnel money into the tourist district even as we should be diversifying into more stable industries in the future:

A treat for our hardcore Republicans: CPAC, which usually meets in the DC area (especially Baltimore’s Inner Harbor), is coming to I-Drive Feb 25-28 due to COVID restrictions:

Time for fresh ideas.

Ok @Urban Mail Carrier who do you suggest. Dyers competition so far has been Barr, Mulvaney, Diamond and Ings. Dyer has beat them all by 15 to 50% and I am glad he did as none of them would have been very good (maybe Diamond, but he's a bit of a light weight). If you look around the local political landscape, who do you think would be a better candidate that actually wants the job?

@spenser1058 "Bill Frederick, generally perceived as the most effective Orlando mayor in the modern era,"... you keep saying that and I'm sure in your circle that is true, but that is not as widely held view as you think.

I know Dyer on the same level I know Hood and Frederick... I'm not invited to their parties unless I'm bringing a checkbook. I like everyone of them, none more than the other, and I think each had/has their warts. I'd be happy to consider another candidate if a good one ran. And don't say Dyer needs to step down just so some good candidate can run... that belief, along with we "need new fresh perspective" is how we get a dolt like Donald Trump elected.

You know AMIREAL I wish I knew. It’s easy to complain and criticize. I don’t see any viable candidates that excite me. I give Dyer credit for his persistence on the creative village, pushing Exploria stadium thru, his leadership on Sunrail and the urbanization of Downtown. He’s been a good mayor. I realize that in MANY things his hands are handcuffed by the State of Florida. This state just gets in the way of progress!!!can come up with some ideas here goes:

1. Lure another University to downtown

2. Elevate Gertrudes Walk. Modify it into some sort of elevated park, like the High line, Rail park, etc..

3. Donate land to the OMA.

4.  Sell Orlando Executive airport or start incorporating it into Orlando as neighborhoods.

5.  Combine Lynx, Sunrail and the Central Florida expressway authority into one agency.

6. Fund a City  homeless agency with services to house, feed, educate and employ. It should include mental care and healthcare.
7. Connect the lakes around downtown with canals develop into some sort of Riverwalk.

8. An iconic statue at the DPAC lawn site across the street from city hall.

Half of these ideas are probably pipe dreams.

1. Lure another University to downtown - UCF and FAMU is more than enough

2. Elevate Gertrudes Walk. Modify it into some sort of elevated park, like the High line, Rail park, etc..- Interesting but investing more in it would have a good bang for your buck as well as getting more activity along the trail from new development

3. Donate land to the OMA. - Yes but need to find good spot. I nominate the land adjacent to Lowndes.

4.  Sell Orlando Executive airport or start incorporating it into Orlando as neighborhoods. - Airport land is next to impossible to sell because of the FAA restrictions, if your purchase it with FAA money, your hands are tied.

5.  Combine Lynx, Sunrail and the Central Florida expressway authority into one agency. Yes, at least the first two. It will be tricky with the expressway authority as you could not co-mingle funds.

6. Fund a City  homeless agency with services to house, feed, educate and employ. It should include mental care and healthcare. Right on
7. Connect the lakes around downtown with canals develop into some sort of Riverwalk.- No comment

8. An iconic statue at the DPAC lawn site across the street from city hall. Okay

Half of these ideas are probably pipe dreams.

Maybe because people who are happy and have a sense of purpose tend to take better care of themselves and look better. Conservatives, on average, are happier and find more meaning in life than liberals. It's hardly surprising given that all we hear from liberals nowadays are grievances, "justice," revenge and finding fault in everything and anything. Such rage and unhappiness. It's sad. :tw_cry:

Yep. That's why the most beautiful and widely accomplished individuals hail from Alabama, Oklahoma and Louisiana. It's a (inter)breeding ground for greatness.
