Amtrak will move passenger facilities from its landmark, century old Pennsylvania Station in Baltimore to a new glass facility connected to the original via a concourse across the tracks.

The historic older facility will be refurbished and leased for other uses.

While we’re busy trying to bulldoze our history, Jacksonville is trying to convert these six awesome buildings into food halls:

Meanwhile, we’ll just look forward to generic big boxes where the 1950s- era Sentinel newsroom now sits instead of commemorating the huge part it played in the milestones of Orlando. We’ll also settle for boring instead of the textures and unique infgresses and egresses of the newsroom. I imagine we’ll just toss the century-old clock as well. We can’t be bothered with anything unique - Boring R Us. As long as we line the pockets of some developer, that’s all that matters.

This article on the political changes in Georgia is astounding. We know that Atlanta and its closer ‘burbs have been driving the blue shift, but even places like Macon are becoming competitive.

Jacksonville’s Riverside Avondale Preservation is one of the largest and most successful neighborhood restoration programs in the country, beginning back in the ‘70’s.

Avondale has one of the smaller commercial districts among several in the preserved area. Here are some photos by Ennis Davis at The Jaxson:

Notice the angled parking and ALL THOSE TREES!

Here’s a project @AndyPok1 will love - the Tampa Yuengling brewery (originally Schlitz - it’s behind Busch Gardens) is adding on a hotel.

Doesn’t get any closer to the source than that!

The Jaxson takes a tour of another awesome historic neighborhood in Jacksonville, San Marco.

There’s also a bit about how the city succumbed to the infamous GM streetcar conspiracy (yep, Roger Rabbit and Judge Doom were based on a real thing which killed transit in cities across the nation, not just LA).

It’s interesting to look at the cities who’ve done the work to support and promote baseball like Jacksonville:

Meanwhile, Orlando has done nothing to encourage the sport in the last couple of decades. Nevertheless, we deserve a MLB team because Pat Williams said so!
