LSU #2 Syria Messeris the new WBB Head Coach for the Knights:

From The Sentinel

@jrs2, it refers to her time at Baylor coaching the “Lady Bears”. Of course, in Waco, that would no doubt be considered perfect, right?

wasn't Waco where that Jim Morrison looking cult leader was? For whatever reason I thought Baylor was in Dallas until I saw that show where they renovate houses.  I was like...whuhhhhhhh?

Maybe we should move to Waco and open up a cult there. (I cannot type that with a straight face, LOL)

Wacko Waco was the home of the Branch Davidians   that gave Janet Reno such fits. Baylor is a good school whose politics are way on the right end of the spectrum. If ever there were a place I don’t belong, Waco is it.

yep.  David Koresh I think... that guy was a fiendish master with the stuff he got away with doing...it's almost comical in a dark way.  How does a town shake the moniker of an event like that?  Wait 25 or so years .  it's like the Kent State thing...when I was a kid, that name was ominous because of what happened there...   Waco...

I wonder is Superchannel 55 ever reaches that level of notoriety here back home...

I still have friends around the South who won’t come to Orlando because of Pulse.

crap, you're right.  being local it's hard to gage how it is perceived in other cities and states.

Sometimes you even have special relatives (mine wear special red hats and big crosses around their necks so they're easier to spot!) who tell you that the folks at Pulse were crisis actors and when you tell them you personally know people who lost friends or loved ones there, they tell you those people were paid lots of money to grieve.

The Lakeland Ledger says South Florida (the Temple Terrace one) should try and replicate UCF’s success in football:

https://www.theledger.com/story/sports/college/football/2022/04/04/can-jeff-scott-and-usf-football-replicate-ucfs-success/7192775001/

Over on USF’s fan forum, The Bullspen, they’re not having any of it. Instead they keep hanging on to being ranked #2 for about a week twenty years ago.

For the Genshafted among us, revenge is a dish best served cold. Even better? As soon as we get to the Big XII, we’ll forget they ever existed. They’ll matter about as much to us as UNF does now.

The Tampa Bay Times take a look at what a difference an on campus stadium can make:

https://www.tampabay.com/sports/bulls/2022/04/06/what-will-usf-bulls-gain-from-an-on-campus-football-stadium/

Of course Duh poor Cows have been too, ummm, pigheaded to admit that until recently when UCF got the nod to advance to the P5 and South Florida got left behind. Funny how a school of “preeminence” could be so dumb, but then that’s Duh Cows…

Btw, we sure got the wrong Sugar Daddy. The Viniks just gave another $5 for USF’s-forever-in-process on campus stadium. That’s in addition to Jeff’s work to transform downtown Tampa. Although off to a slow start, his Lightning team is often towardthe top of the NHL.

Compare that with Joe Lewis who wants everything at Nona and the DeVoses… well, the less said about them, the better. Maybe once they get City and The Pride squared away, we’ll hear more from the Wilfs.

Who knew UCF baseball could be so exciting? Coach Lovelady went viral with a tirade but it turned out he was right and the umps had to vacate an incorrect call:

Also a bit about Tiger in the column. Can we acknowledge he’s one of the greatest golfers in the history of the sport and move on? Especially since there are some really exciting golfers coming up who are young enough to be Tiger’s son. The media obsession with Mr. Woods is beyond annoying.

UCF women’s golf is on the way to the NCAA tournament- Charge on!

Meanwhile, our baseball team’s in a three-way tie for first in the AAC . If we get past Tulane this weekend and ECU bests Cincy, we’ll be sitting pretty for the conference tournament in May.

For at least a moment, UCF legend Blake Bortles is in front of the GOAT:

”Speaking of Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucs, here’s your stat of the week: When the Bucs play in Munich on Nov. 13, Brady will become the first quarterback to start in four different countries and needs just 258 yards to break the NFL career passing record for yards thrown on foreign soil. The record is held by none other than — wait for it — former UCF and Oviedo High quarterback Blake Bortles. ...”

UCF Legend Matt Wright , the Richie Cunningham of football and an all-around great guy (he’s smart, too - an engineer when not balling), has been released by the Jags:
